Next best skill for a kicker?

So assuming you have Joe-bloodbowler with the Kick skill (and only the kick skill), where do you go from there? Assume any chart access, but I picked what I thought might be the most popular selections.

How do YOU build your kicker? Safety type role? Total toolbox skill piece? Man marker? Fouler?

I haven't taken Kick on anyone in a long while myself, but if it's a lino, then there's no reason to deviate from your normal lino development path. Block, Wrestle or Dodge for those with A access are all good skills (I never take Tackle before one of those three skills either). Dirty Player is a suboptimal pick because the skills' functions do not work together. You must be prepared to lose your Dirty Player and with Kick you want the skill to be available until the end of the match.

What Ullis said. Kick is just an "extra" skill - makes no difference to the normal progression.

I would have thought he's right and it does. Normal linemen are LOS fodder. So if you have to put them on the LOS you want skills like wrestle, fend, sidestep etc. However a kicker is never (or rarely) deployed on the LOS so would benefit from being developed to recognise that. That probably doesn't change the need for block/wrestle and dodge/guard, but skills like tackle and diving tackle become a lot more useful than on a regular lineman.

Somewhat agree with the others. Wrestle first, then tackle and use him to take down potential scorers. But this is pretty theorybowl from my side, as the only kicker I've had (dark elves) rolled a double next skill, took guard and never got any more spps.

The trouble with kick is that you can’t use it on the LOS and plenty of teams have so many positionals that you can’t fit the LOS fodder and kick lineman into your starting 11.

For that reason I like taking kick on AG3 throwers after block and sure hands if they don’t already have it. That way he can be used on defence as well so will often get skills like tackle and strip ball since the blitzers in the team want strength skills 1st like guard, MB and PO.

I think you'd need to specify the team, because it varies so much.

For Chaos, for example, I like to have one build: Block, Kick, Guard

kick then wresle!! as normally I set up on the second line and in case a blocker hits him the blocker losts the remainder of his blitz if both go down!

after that takle and strip ball, as is a player than if you have 12 players will not play in atack, so even if he is a line elf i would avoid dodge. In case of a double guard, as if nobody hits him he will be free to give e hand where more needed!

Standard progression for me. Just consider them half utility half positional

Leader was the old pick of choice for this sometimes unique roll but I tend to go standard skills nowadays. I'm also just as happy with kick on a positional if that is the racial setup that leaves just three lineman for the scrim line. As above a thrower with block kick is fine by me. Must say I only get kick on high ma teams and high at teaams.
