I agree Pariah. GW charges way to much for a simple hobby. And the real kickin the nuts is you have to buy 1 or even 2 booster packs to get a full team of 16, to get the mini's to reporesent all positions.
For example, the Amazons:
The box set goes for 35 bucks here, and has 2 blitzers.
The blister packs go for 15 bucks and only have 1 blitzer each (I'm not using a linewoman mini for a blitzer, either!)
The 'Zon team allows 4 blitzers. That means, to get four, I have to buy the team and 2 blister packs (35 +15+15). That's 65 bucks.
FUQ THAT.
So, I bought a full team of Human Females from Shadowforge for just over 40 bucks (not including shipping). 16 players, all positions, and the best part: I can play both 'Zons AND Humans with them! Much better IMO.

There was a thread here a while ago where we beat out sensible booster packs to match up with the team sets. We mentioned it to Jervis and Andy in the seminar. Milo was looking at it but it must have been pushed to the bottom of the pile. Just reminded Woody to get it forwarded on, Fanatic seemed keen on the idea.

I think that some of us are saying that we are tired of fixing teams that are obviously broken.
The way it works now is that Fanatic releases a broken team, we fix as best we can, then playtest it, then Fanatic has to start the process all over again. What we want are teams that have a real chance of working before we waste our time and money on this crap.

Neo why cant they prepublish team lists online and have people playtest them there and then publish in bb mag? Instead of having us test teams that are almost unanimously hated.

For me its not about buying them, i have my own ogres (about 20). I would have only bought one just to add a different one to my collection. I made my own Mino team, even if they bring them back (dont even want to see what they would do with them), i would only buy one.

They definitely are not even close to the same, Neo.neoliminal wrote:It appears to me that #1 and #2 are the same result.
Experimental rules ARE for playtesting.
What #2 is saying is STOP making the minis and then forcing rules around them. Get the rules right and then commish Mark Bedford or Phil Bowen or [insert name here] to sculpt the team based on the result of the first 6 months of testing.
Right now we have a situation where the Ogre team appears badly broken. Splitting Ogre Blitzer and Blocker seems a really good way to fix it ... BUT ... Jervis said no a the Blood Bowl because he already made the minis to be a generic Ogre. THIS SUCKS! I have no problem saying that.
Forcing the rules around the minis is not how you make good BB.
Actually #2 and #5 are about the same, but #2 allows the minis to be made while the team is still experimental, but after the 6 month pretesting. #5 says wait until its in the LRB or headed there to make the minis.

Jervis also said that the are trying to get the minis out there. Currently bb sales are going up 50% a month. If they get minis out there and are therefore getting more money coming back in. He also said that fanatic is underfunded so by showing there is a demand for blood bowl things will increase. He did agree that its not the best way to design them but current situation is why things are as they are.
What he also said he wanted was for people to playtest the roster he put out and prove that its broken. I don't think he will consider the alternate roster cause of the generic ogre models. Unless the current roster is proved broken then I think little is going to change.

I guess if the new figs can increase funding and resources for BB then that must be a good thing, just a shame about the Ogre team, most people can see from one look that it's broken.
Still if the quality of the figs keeps up to the current standard of the new Ogres and Elves then I'll be buying more figs in the future. Glad to hear they are redoing the teams as the second edition one's were generally a lot better and they seem to be heading back in that direction.

The short answer is "no", but it is a qualified "no" because there are odd ways of interpreting the question which could justify the answer "yes".

Pariah ... we prove the one is broken and have the other as the alternative. You will continue to test the roster that you are testing in the MBBL ... I've already cleared that.Pariah wrote:JJ is cracked and I don't give a rat's ass who that offends!!!!!
I'll test the BB Mag roster sorta along side but not in the MBBL and we'll be able to present both.
I also think that if it means having a balanced team or not, JJ will realize that the Blocker/Blitzer split is easy with the current figs (especially since the Blocker on our roster doesn't have TTM), and give in. But we need the proof to drive the argument. Not the way, I wanted to do this, but so be it.
I once said that while I may not like the system, I'll play the one game to protect the more important game that I love. So Pariah, for now just test the TBB roster in the MBBL to the best of your ability. I have a feel it is going to matter in the long run compared to my team (unless I just completely flubb playing it).
