Yeah, me too. Cue a rush on the boardgame that means I miss out...

Good spot. But still... I'm sorely tempted to shell out for the full game on the basis of these two figures alone (and my wife will kill me if she sees this post)

Unfortunately all of those are 40mm base stances and in some cases 50mm base stances. Which is fine for some ... I just personally only buy minis for my teams anymore that fit on 30mm bases. Heck I paid $2000 to have the steel plastic mould made to create the flat 30mm bases to use so Big Guys could fit base-wise on the board ... I want to use them. :D

Any bright ideas out there for the Heralds? I'm having a tough time imagining a model that is both similar enough to the bloodletter yet different. The only ones that I found from GW that I could use as a reference point were riding mounts, but otherwise didn't look very dissimilar.

Khorne warriors, for me. The statline is similar to the pit fighter, but with horns.

I converted a Khorne warrior a couple of years ago, and I reckon you could use something similar for the heralds, if you were so inclined. Check it out here:

As for a bloodthirster, the minotaur with demonic head from Neomics seems great too. Add him wings and it's perfect, already equipped with shoulder pads :

Some of their beastmen could fit well for bloodletters also (painted red of course) :

@Galak : Couldn't Impact launch a Kickstarter to create a Khorne team ?

So I'm set to start this weekend. (Re-)using the old Bloodthirster I already have as it turns out they are ridiculously expensive on ebay to buy nowadays! Bloodthirsters are getting converted from a box of Warhammer plastics. Heralds are going to be the Avatars of War 'Daemon War Herald' models. Look far too big for ST3 (ST4 would be perfect) but the mini is just too cool not to use!

Where I'm stuck, is the Pit Fighters.

Any ideas?

As previously, I'd grab some bitz off the web (space wolf heads in particular, though I already have a baggie of those) and combine aspects of flagellants, imperial guard and chaos marauders.

Bear in mind that Chaos Space Marines have conveniently just gone through a bit of a relaunch. I'd consider waiting to see if a chaos cultist plastic kit is released anytime soon before making the leap.

I would use the AoW Herald as the Bloodthirster myself, then kitbash some marauders as linemen or pit slaves or whatever the heck they are called..

for Heralds I would use the old skool 80s Khorne champs and for bloodletters either the plastic GW ones or beastmen painted up with red skin and black fur..

not the best pic, but you get the idea...

The AoW Herald is way too small to be a Bloodthirster IMO. I'll post a comparison picture once I assemble him.

I think Don_Vito's old school blood thirster is one of the best, fits perfectly.

And yea, the 30mm base from Impact! may be one of the best things this game's ever gotten. 40+mm bases drive me crazy in this game. I used to use the infantry bases from Rachkam's AT-43/Confrontation game as they were just about a parfect 30mm, but they were expensive to get if you weren't planning on converting the miniatures for something else.

Actually, remembering those bases game me an idea. This guy might make a decent Bloodthirster (assuming you're like me and don't want wings getting in the way of everything). He's on (I believe) what is effectively a 31-32mm base.

He is pre-painted plastic (but I will say that Rackham's prepaints were the the most exquisite to ever hit the market). I don't know if their minis could be stripped, primed, or painted over well, so perhaps not a ton of flexibility in the color scheme?

What size are the urak-hai compared to blood bowl figures? The only LotR figures I've seen (not many, as no-one here ever played it) were all stunty size at best.
