Sorry if it is getting annoying, but I have just come to the conclusion that I'm a bit crap.
I originally tried a long-ball style with my dark elves... spreading out lots of potential receivers and intending to pass to one and score next turn. When this didn't work, I tried to run the ball a bit more by creating a loose cage type structure which I kept dodging forward. Even while keeping a couple of guys who I could pass to, this still didn't really work.
the point i'm getting at is that people can win with dark elves...they may not be a team YOU are particularly suited to playing, but they are a good team and can be very successful. maybe you're a better orc coach or something.
Dunno - I only own dark elf, chaos and gobbo figures. I used to think I was quite good with dark elves and then played in the MBBL and lost more often than I won. I don't think it is much of a style thing... I just haven't played as much as others, I make my decisions too quickly, and I haven't worked out the TZ thing - I tend to always try to ensure that I never leave any elf in base-to-base contact with an opponent's player. Although this means he can only get one blitz, it does mean that all his guys are free to do anything... and I begin my turn with lots of dodges needed before I can achieve what I want to do. Somehow I need to work out how you decide which elves to leave in TZs and which ones you get out... but I just haven't been able to figure it yet.
You are probably right on that I give Shadowing out too early - but then I've never had a player with more than three skills and it gets dull just giving out the same skills over and over again. I like a bit of variety - which is why I coach elves.
