And we'd have to call them Orcs.

Or did you mean they'd be AG4 Orcs?

Either way, I'd have to play them then.

I love Orcs. Where's my walpaper of that cheerleader now....

Well, aren't high elves basically AG4 humans? So where's the harm?

the way JJ said it, it DEFINITELY sounded like the high elves are a state team, so play in crappy ornate armour, and the others are simply more dedicated to the game - at no point did I see any intent to make the new figures into a different team. I'd be very surprised if he thought there was a need for a new elf roster!

However, if we assume new figs=new roster, then going on his "a bit more psychopathic" idea, perhaps they all have frenzy? Given they have less armour than helfs, perhaps their stats might be:

Linemen 6 3 4 7 Frenzy
Thrower 6 3 4 7 Frenzy, Pass
Catcher 8 2 5 7 Dodge
Blitzer 7 3 4 7 Frenzy, Block

Just off the top of my head of course.

In the first seminar jervis said that the high elves were like an elite kinda like royalty side hence they had to play in the gear they wear.

The new elves will be a more full time blood bowl team, hence having a more blood bowl team look than a warhammer look. He then said that there will be a new roster for them producing a 4th elf team. The minis are due out in july so expect some rules for them around bbmag8.

I'm all for new mini's. The high elf models are boring. The Lion Warriors are a bit cool, I have one with a white tiger theme, which looks cool.

But new mini's are great. I always love new minis.

And I also agree with the concept of actual professional BB players. But I love fluff, and while I agree that they could definatively be less WFB, they should still reflect the Warhammer world. I'm pretty sure that not every race are full time warriors. There are bound to be other interests than war in any given world.

I also agree that the elves are different in play style. There is a big difference between a Dark Elf Blitzer, and a High Elf Lion Warrior.

Personally I play all three Elf teams. I absolutely hate AG 3 players. Considering how often I fail 2+ rolls, not to mention 3+ rolls, I shudder at the tought of anything less than AG4.

And If another elf roster comes out, great. Though I can't see how it would fit in, unless it's like a very special aspect of an elf team. I wouldn't mind a slight remake of Dark and High elves. Like giving the dark elves a couple of players able to take ST skills. Make the high elves more score oriented, and darkies more bash oriented. Woodelves are fine they way they are IMHO. (not including the treeman issue)

When I play my Dark Elves, I fail lots of 2+ rolls.

When I play my Chaos Dwarfs, my bet scorer is a dwarf! He never fails to catch the ball, even if inacurat.

However, my elves like to roll double pows on two dice blocks my opponent's choice, while my CD's like to roll triple skulls when it is my choice.

Galak, it's probably unnecessary now. I'm playing a few practice matches against Balrog - who has already suggested one change to what I was doing that was helpful - and I'm about to do some practice with Marcus.

Cheers,
Martyn

Thanks for the link. I've been trying to find the rules that allow for Dark Elf Assassins, I've been wanting to put my Horkon fig to work without hiring Horkon. I've always thought that they were one of the best distinguishing features of the Dark Elf side, and could never figure out why they weren't provided for in the team list. :smoking:

Maybe it is more interesting to give the assassins shadow and tackle instead of the dagger. Make the dagger an option for them. The suggested list would never make it with the new Secret Weapon Rules in BBMag5!
Alternatively, some kind of DE blocker could be introduced, or what I saw suggested on this forum, a runner instead of the thrower...

Still, I think the elven teams are fine as they stand now...

One version of the assassin that I saw (I think they were on Galak's site, but no more, replaced by harpies) definitely had shadowing, not sure about tackle, and I wouldn't have a problem with making the poisoned dagger available not as part of the stat line but rather under the secret weapons rules. They were also priced, if my memory is right, at 120K. I just think they should belong in the team. :smoking:

I know you aren't a PBeM player ... but one game to help out a struggling Elf coach might be okay ... maybe?

Galak
one pbem game takes what a month? seriously it's not that i am against the idea but the timing sucks...i'm dm'ing a d&d game starting next week for the first time in about 7 years and I need to be spending more free time working on it, and I'm going to be working more not less in upcoming weeks.

ask me again in about a month, once i get accustomed to the dm thing again and work chills a bit.

I don't like incorporating SW's directly into the roster. I said this when this link popped up the last time that the throwers should've been replaced by runners to keep this a sport-game. No point in having half of the roster positions held by troop types instead of play positions.

Give them Runners with Sure Hands and let's say Shadowing for example and you got yourself a truly unique team from the High elves. And it seems like a BB team, not a WH army list.

And I hate what that ruleset does to the High Elves.
