1.81M Amazons vs. 2.48M CD: inducement/other advice?
K, nothing like taking on the major challenges first.
Introductory season underway, Pittsburgh Pirates are the medicine I must swallow before I get what could be a comparatively soft patch to kick off my NBFL experience. First, I have to survive this one.
This is not a divisional game, There is no overwhelming rivalry, each of us would rather see a ton of Badly Hurt results, so the other team can go beat up our respective divisions. Still, if you look at the two team lists and my inducement plans, you'll see it's not gonna be all that pleasant.
Me
4 Blitzers:
1x MB/G/T, needs 3 more to be our first POMBer
1x +MA/MB
2x MB
1 Catcher: Block and Guard
11 Linas:
1x Block/Kick/Strip
1x +ST
1x +MA
1x Block
2x Guard
2x DP
3x Wrestle
4RR, 6FF, Apo
Oppo
1 Minotaur: Block, Claw (-MA, -AV)
2 Bull Centaurs:
1x B, D, SH, BT, MB (-AV)
1x +ST, B, D
6 C.Dwarf Blockers:
G, POMB, Frenzy, +AG
G, +ST, MB, Pro (niggle)
G, POMB, Frenzy
G, Foul Appearance
G, MB (-MA)
Dodge
4 Hobgoblins:
DP, Block, +ST (-AG)
DP, Block, SH, Kick, Dauntless
Block, Dodge, Accurate
DP, Wrestle
4RR, 7FF, Apo
I built up to 16 players on the 6/7 chance that I wouldn't see these guys. Oops. No need for Mercs, got all I need. I can't have any Stars. So, what do I take?
I voted A, 'cause that's what my gut says. I'm totally open to persuasion, 'cause my eyes tell me I'm hosed.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

A seems like the obvious choice to me. The game will hinge on your dp I think...

Tough one... Good luck, think you need it. Regarding the inducements, I voted A, there's not much use for the chef when he's so developed.

I'd go with d. Babes are not going to be used much because the CDs working on a 2:1 grind principle.
The chef will be more effective in disrupting CD play.

I had the same thought regarding the ROI on babes given a 2:1 grind. Maybe that money could be better spent elsewhere.Smurf wrote:I'd go with d. Babes are not going to be used much because the CDs working on a 2:1 grind principle.

However, with multiple DPs on your team, and two high-value CD players with -AV, I am a big fan of including bribes. If you can wrestle down the Mino/BC early and foul them out, you could get a serious advantage in player exchange. Even if the bribe fails, removing a 5 skill BC is really going to stick in his craw.

I've been speccing his matches. He likes to spend Petty Cash, has 400k. If he goes for Nobbla or a Wizard, I'm thinking 3 cards instead of a third Bribe.
@ Lunchab1es, do you mean that I should drop my Babes for a third Bribe, or for cards? I'm not at all keen on either.
Mind you, if he does induce a saw or Wiz, I can have one Babe/Card, a Wiz, two Apos, a Bribe, and a Chef....

The 200k card deck has some neat results.

I know you are experimenting a 16-women roster, yet... frankly, you are tying your own hands: his team is far stronger than yours, and you are "sabotaging" the inducement system that can give you a better chance to win. If he take a wizard or such, you are in deep troubles.

Re: 1.81M Amazons vs. 2.48M CD: inducement/other advice?
@MKL, no. I had to make my roster blindly, with much greater odds that I wouldn't need a star (that's the only 2500 team on my schedule). I just got unlucky there.
Lost 0-1. Inducements let me down from the get-go. Never doubled on a foul (or broke armor, even at AV4/DP... sigh), Wiz failed, +ST lina retired on an Apoth fail (one Apoth went unused), Babes blew chunks (my one studly blitzer spent the whole game in the KO bin). TRRs laughed at me too, except the two doubleskulls rr'ed into pows: most of my d6 fails were rr-fail. Still, it was down to the wire, and a little luck in the fourth quarter could have won or tied me the game. That, and my dodge-away-from-Tackle mostly worked when I needed it.
S'k. This game was in my "loseable" category, so as long as I beat Philly and two of the remaining three AFCN teams, I'll go into the rest of the division series leaner and meaner. Losing Butz was a bummer, but stats are a handicap I don't need. The only scary team on my schedule is done, time to dive into the cake.
