Zombie: Bloodbasher's league also uses the declare after, and is having some problems with PO.

Actually, we use the old "declare before AV roll", which is what some people what to change it back to. We STILL have problems with this way, now that fouling a prone player is more risky, especially with IGMEOY.

We've recently switched to declaring before the roll, and IMO it was probably a good decision. Before it seemd like every other player had PO becuase it seemed stupid not to take it.

I have to admit I kinda like the idea of PO being an AV re-roll. There are enough AV mod skills anyways.

I agree with you Anthony. Rerolling the AV roll would make it a viable skill for anyone, even ST2 players. "What, didn't hurt you the 1st time?!!? ELBOW DROP! <CRRRUUNNNNCCHH!>

Declaring pile on before you roll solves everything...

Besides... piling on is ASKING to start a foul war... I have a black orc with pile on and I put him on the line every time. When he goes down I have 2 orcs with him to prevent an obnoxiously strong foul on me.

I think PO isn't as bad as everyone says and while can get out of hand... that is a 'LEAUGE' issue, not the rules. If you got someone 'piling on' like crazy... put a bounty out on the sob! Good hearted bounties solves everything!

I do it all the time... '20k if you give him a niggling injury or stat harm, 50k if you kill the SOB'

Heh. Bounties aren't an official part of the LRB, so we can't exchange money in my league. We are able to put real cash on the table, though.

ah that's not true...it's practically encouraged in the "designers notes" by Jervis. people should feel free to bribe each other with game winnings and so on.

we used to bribe people out of playuing nasty cards on us like "peaked" and we still bribe them out of things like their apothecaries and so on. You can bribe a guy not to foul your player, or just about anything else you can think of. :)

I thought coaches could freely offer their gps to other coaches for whatever reason they liked, and pay up or not as they liked.

I think possibly it would be worth pointing this out in the rules but I don't think there is any need for a specific set of rules to govern transactions, it's just giving cash away, for whatever reason stated.

is there some relevant point you're trying to make there?

hardly, I just remembered my piling on Norse blitzers when they play Amazons

Yes a bit. I feel the skill should be declared before the AV roll, as the player that has the skill, sorta in real life, would 'calculate' his chances on hurting his opponent, he wouldn't hit him and jump on top of him if it didn't hurt enough.

sorta

ok i sorta see what you're saying, but trying to base bb rules on "real life" or "common sense" examples is always a bad idea...

there are plenty of better reasons for changing the way piling on works. :)
