That's what I thought too. Since I've never used them I didn't feel able to comment.Khail wrote:I somehow get the feeling that he was asking about the Kicking rules, not the Kick skill itself...heh.
The kick skill is absolutely necessary for some tactics to work and fairly important for everyone.

I have tried the kicking rules in my Table-top league and I do not like them. It becomes very difficult to stop speed teams from scoring. Holding up the two turn score is difficult enough without a potentially game winning score (even if only 1/2 of a TD) in the last turn for them (via the 1 turn score a FG gives them). It is also much more difficult for the strength teams to kick a field goal successfully. The ST distance on a kick nowhere near counters the extra MA and AG of the faster teams. Trust me I know. My chaos have failed about 4 kick attempts. The Skaven and Elves in my league have succeeded about 70% of their attempts and often won the game as a direct result.
In effect the rules only serve to give the quicker teams another potent advantage in scoring over the slower teams. And while I may appear biased (ie I played Chaos) I often play speed teams as well.
The other factor I dislike is more aesthetic. The major goal of BB should be to carry the ball over the line. It gives a sense of acheivement. Even when a kick works it leaves a sense of dissatisfaction. It is not challenging enough (at least for some teams) to be entertaining.

I used it in the MBBL and I love them. I was skeptical at first but I really enjoy them now.
Not sure what happened in D'Arquebus's league but in the MBBL the kicking rules help out the ST teams more than the AG teams. The AG teams just don't kick much. They are far better at gaining TD's. And it's pretty easy to set up a line of defense to make any AG 4 slob have a rough time booting one in.

Only ever used it in practice MBBL matches. During league games I can't get my kicker to hold the ball, let alone kick it.
