It's exploration and confirmation, Matt....
For some, it will be a road they may have wondered whether to wander down... for others, they now know the numbers... and, as you have just expressed, there are the opportunity costs for making a wight a passer....
Perhaps, with their fragility and ethereal nature, the ghouls are the only sane nominee for altering a chance y course of advancement... not that that seems particularly sane....
To return to, and quantify your rhetorical question:
A 130k Guard, Tackle Wight is better than a 140k Strong Arm, Pass Wight(?)
The exploration of the Wight is in that only they can take an immediate, non-doubles, assisting skill for the passing game.... Now we can fairly assuredly say that the wight needs a double to make passing remotely comfortable and that with a dedication of catch on another Ag3 player.... It is a bit of a snafu for Necros... and possibly why a fumbbl thread of old was exploring why Necros just never made it into (admittedly high tv) format championship games.... And, ultimately Matt, I want another trick in the bag for the Necro coach....

In my home league Necro teams have done *extremely* well - in fact winning more championships after 11 seasons then any other:Digger Goreman wrote: and possibly why a fumbbl thread of old was exploring why Necros just never made it into (admittedly high tv) format championship games.... .
Necro 4
Vamp 2
Pro Elf 1
Orc 1
DE 2
CDw 1
But IMO Necro win based on their defense, toughness (regen+av8 on line fodder? Heck yes!), and damage potential...not their offensive prowess...

There are so many variables in BB that quoting wins or percentages, without a reem of assumptions, is folly.... Even just playing by the rules presents enough options to make statements meaningless... imo....
Then there is coaching level, risk aversion, et al and luck....
Eh, that's Blood Bowl....

For MattGSlater, or anyone else with good insight:
I'm still not totally satisfied with the only way to beat spamag4 (primarily elves) as a 2-1 grind.... Perhaps the following is a flawed example, but I completed a dominating win of Khemri vs Lizzies by forcing as many dodges as possible and letting the dice down the skinks.... Admittedly, ag3 fails twice as often fairy ag4, but I wonder if a spread defense could be used to stymie the timmys?
Constructive thoughts?

You can try, but it comes down to them failing a crucial 1/36 rather than a crucial 1/9.

Better use lots of TacklePOMB to kill then 'till they die from it. Also Fouling with DP, for more dealing of death.Digger Goreman wrote:For MattGSlater, or anyone else with good insight:

Passing games are good when you get outmuscled. If your problem is elveses, you need all the Mighty Blow and Tackle you can get your cold, dead hands on. Forcing dodges is only 25% as good vs Dodge elves compared to AG3 Dodge: you need to take bodies out to give you more zones and force more/harder dice.
I don't think Strong Arm is worth building around on a Human Thrower, let alone on a 0-2 blitzer spot that doesn't start with any relevant skills and needs doubles for Pass and Accurate. If you get an AG4 Wight and then he gets doubles, it would be fun, but AG3/Pass/SA is still a big fail, especially with no Catch (and no, don't take Catch on Ghouls: good money after bad).
Passing in BB generally falls into two categories: emergency/opportunity, and planned-out passing plays. The former generally requires that you do it with the closest/most available AG3+ player, the latter generally requires a full suite of skills, plus Catch or AG4 receivers.

What is Nuffle's view? Through a window, two-by-three. He peers through snake eyes.
What is Nuffle's lawn? Inches, squares, and tackle zones: Reddened blades of grass.
What is Nuffle's tree? Risk its trunk, space the branches. Touchdowns are its fruit.

Re: (Un-)Living NecroTacticum: Necros vs the world of Blood
So I've just picked up playing a necro team. Went with the 1WW, 1 G, 2FG, 2W roster. Won the first game and WW got block (good start).
Game 2, I'll be missing a FG (boo), but I gained a Z. I therefore have 11 rostered players (TV 960k), but I have 80k cash. Do I bank it towards the WW (I'm leaning here) or buy an extra G now?
Cheers in advance

Bank it, one Ghoul is fine for a while.

Nice and simple then
Cheers for the advice. Just need a similar effort in game 2 and I'll have a second WW, while the 1st will have a couple of skills

So a couple of games later and the team face another selection quandry. http://www.fumbbl.com/p/team?team_id=776636 The unskilled wight just got +AG. Do I take it or pass for MB/Guard? I already took the +MV for one werewolf and +AG for the other.

Depends, what is the point of the team? If you want to win now go for MB, if you are building for high tv/major take the +AG.

Re: (Un-)Living NecroTacticum: Necros vs the world of Blood
mawph, I would be inclined to take the +AG. Reliable dodging is rather handy on this team. Depending how the Wight develops (I note that he is close to his 2nd skill-up), you can consider making him your primary ball-carrier (because of his ability to dodge out of traffic and to pass).
Of course you now have a lot of TV invested in stat upgrades. So you have to make sure you develop and play the team as a harmonious whole, otherwise it might become TV bloat. But that's one of the interesting challenges of BB.
Hope that helps.
