Doesn't say so in the LRB. Hence the problems with forgetting BH rolls.DaImp wrote:100% fair
He has to learn to play within the rules and he was given ample warning. Failing to move a Wild Animal first counts as an Illegal Procedure, so surely failing to roll a Bonehead is also an IP - which means his turn ends unless he burns a reroll.

Not at all. Failing to roll bonehead/Really stupid isn't an IP. Is failing to roll a dodge an IP? What is the difference?DaImp wrote:surely failing to roll a Bonehead is also an IP
I really hate the way IP has crept outside of moving turn markers. IMO it ought to be removed from WA too - you just have to do it. Then you don't make people think they can break the rules so long as they burn a TRR.

Back on topic: I think that what you did was perfectly fair. He was given ample opportunities to remember. When he was called for it, HE decided that burning a reroll was a proper course of action. If it was in debate, the commishioner should have been contacted and the game halted until a league resolution was given.

More than fair, I'd have probably stopped reminding him and called him on it after 4 max. If he was a newbie fair enough, but it sounds as if he knew what he was doing, and sounds suspiously like "cheating without looking like cheating", IMHO.
We had a guy who used to "forget" to roll his Animosity test for important units in WFB.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

okay, technically it is not an IP, but failing to roll (i.e. not rolling the dice as opposed to failing the roll) a dodge is just as illegal. Basically it is cheating. If a coach moved his player out of a tackle zone and didn't make a dodge roll, you would call him back and force him to make the dodge roll and then continue his move. If he had rolled blocking dice after the (non) dodge then I would suggest the opposing coach gets to choose if he wishes the previous block roll to stand or if it should be rerolled.
So basically in the senario described at the top of this post I would make the coach roll his Bonehead... if he failes then the block never happened. If he passes then the opposing coach can accept the block result as it stands or ask his opponent to reroll the block. But no reroll counter is burnt as it is officially not an IP.
Having had a chance to think about it, thats my ruling as a comish.

I think thats quite reasonable and the way I normally approach things.DaImp wrote:So basically in the senario described at the top of this post I would make the coach roll his Bonehead... if he failes then the block never happened. You were more than fair!
In my league we enforce IP. When new players come along they hate it. They get burned all the time but we give them a preseason to get used to it. Most noobs only take 1 or 2 lost TD's before they remember 99% of the time. This makes IP a lot of fun to us because once in blue moon you can burn opponent because he forgets...and it can be so sweet!
I know that's not popular around here and in a tourney I would expect that behavior but in a friendly game it should be expected. (Our friendly games are brutal because who else can be totally ruthless to but your buds?)
Anyway, the point is, the best way for him to learn the bonehead rules is to have it burn him. Like a child with fire.

I would have judged it an IP as well...in the rules or not.
I wouold probably have taken the "just roll it now route" IF you hadn't warned him repeatedly about missing the roll. Ya gotta be cruel to be kind.
