Cash Prize for a tournament - what would that look like?
Hi all,
DISCLAIMER This is NOT something I'm running, nor ever have the intention of running. It's merely for discussion and speculation.
I was chatting to a mate earlier, a newbie to the Blood Bowl scene, about tournaments. He asked what the prize pool was, and was surprised when I told him there was no cash, only models. But it got me thinking. Do you think it will ever happen that there's a cash prize for first place? I get the feeling that this isn't that kind of community, as it could promote hostility and discourage camaraderie, both of which are strong in BB.
But if someone did try it...
How would people feel if there was a tourney with a cash prize proportional to the entrance fees? Half the pot to the winner, then half and half again to 2nd and 3rd? What if you gambled with your entrace, so the more you pay the more skills you can choose, but the bigger spend for potentially no payout? Cheaper entry for lower tiered teams?
I know the BB2 online tournament has cash prizes, but online gaming is different.
What do people think?
Like I say, this IS NOT something that I'm going to run, I was just curious to other people's opinions on it.

My view - no cash prizes. Models, gift vouchers etc, but no actual money. It changes the mind set of the players when there is actual money to win.

Still wouldn't like, or condone, it. Thrudd is all about charity but doesn't do pay2win.Trumpkin wrote:Yeah I understand. What if it was for charity?

Wouldn't like cash prizes or inducements that provide advantage to a player not using a lesser team.
I just don't think either are in the spirit of what is meant to be a "fun" game.

OK, mesage received. I do agree with you all, so don't worry
It was just an interesting discussion I had with a newbie. Glad I wasn't off the mark!
