They seem to me like they can withstand a lot more punishment than wood elves. For the same price as 11 wood elf line-elves, you could have 13 of those line-elves instead.

But wood Elves get treemen to hold the line for the last half, and half the time for the first. They also, are faster, so have much more break away power.

And, they get a wardancer.

Speaking of wood elves, how come they are the only elf team with a big guy? After this roster comes out, the excuse that they need one because of AV7 will be gone.

Oh yeah, the treeman. A player that costs 110k and misses every fourth half. That's gonna help wood elves to field more players. Right.

Seriously, when considering a team's survivability potential, the two most important things you need to consider is AV and the price of the players. Don't neglect that second factor. That's why skaven have more survivability than wood elves (even though elves can break away more easily with AG4), and it's also why this new elf team could withstand more attrition than wood elves.

My opinion on Elven teams

High Elves: should stay. They are an excellent and often underrated team. Definitely wouldn't want this to replace them

Wood Elves: should remain as they are.

Dark Elves: I'm with Thadrin:
Transform the throwers into runners with Sure Hands instead of pass. I'd go as far as suggest giving them dodge. And give the blitzers ST access too!

Pro Elves: I liked the NoS better and the ST access for blitzers wasn't bad. It should definitely feel like something different than one of the three teams.

Somebody here suggested Safe Throw for the Passers on the new Elf team. I think that's a very good idea. I'd gladly pay 10,000 more for that, but I'd rarely take it on an advance.

Personally, any league I run will still have the Undead roster, regardless of what the Rules Review says, and I think a lot of other leagues will to.
If it comes to a vote, then yes, I will vote to keep the bog-standard Undead roster. The Necromantic roster seems to me very similar to the Halloweenies concept I came up with a long time ago, and I see no reason why those two cannot co-exist.

My most sincere thanks. While I understand the need for the evolution of the game, I abhor the thought that it must be done by cannibalizing a long official roster.

I'm STILL waiting to hear a good reason why we have to have a new roster for the necros instead of simply dropping the Skeletons and renaming the Mummies "Flesh Golems" while coming up with a new, Foul appearance type, concept for Khemri Mummies....

but back to the pointy eared gits....

Milo,

I'd like to add my vote for NoS Catchers instead of Leap .... really if you are going to make a 4th Elf team ... make it different please??!!!!

All you do if you give the Catcher leap is make Wardanders jr. especially with the team going to AV 7.

I'd also support giving the blitzers ST skill access since the team only has 2 ... I mean do you really think this team would be unbalanced .... I don't.

I don't really care about the ST skill Blitzers (but I think it would help make the team a truely new team) .... and I really think you should go with NoS on the Catchers ... Leap is a mistake IMO.

A truely new team is what we need. NoS and ST access go a long way towards that.

My 2 cents opinion: I played High Elves for a long 5 years now, and would gladly exchange them for Elves with NoS and ST access for Blitzers (besides I could finally dig up my 2nd ed. elves), but with Leap and no ST access? No way, I'll keep my HE, thank you very much.

Loving that original roster - It's got weaknesses and it's got strengths. Two thumbs up. Stick with the Nerves of Steel and the ST on blitzers and you've got some serious flavour.

The leaping version is definitely the "all defensive" pro team. It adds nothing new in flavour (cf: Galak's "wardancer jr" point) and detracts from selling the passing game. Either variant and that team is my team in a box. Nice work :)

Like the idea of giving ST to DE blitzers and swapping pass for sure hands on DE Throwers/Runners btw - would further differentiate the teams and give Darkelves their niche. I'd certainly give ST to DE blitzers if you're not going to give it to the Pros.

Sorry I am lost here. Is this a new offical GW list that will be coming out or is it only for www.midgardbb.com. If the former, does anyone have links to the new figs?

All your questions are due to be answered in mag number 8.

Its an entirely new Elf team, with some seriously nice figs, which we got to see at the Blood Bowl and of which a few preview pics are around. Don't have any links immediately to hand though.
