The new pitch is the same width as the old one yes.

thanks
They're official. And there's more than just that one Goblin ref to come.
I can't say I'm overly surprised at the half positionals. That said, new players will still want a full team. They won't do it, but a "Human positionals pack" containing 2 Blitzers, 2 Catchers and 1 Thrower and an "Orc positionals pack" containing 2 Blitzers, 2 Black Orcs and 1 Thrower would be nice.

I'm also guessing that no Goblins are included in the boxed set?

No Goblins in the starter set no. But that is not the only release.

The problem is more with the length though, and I'm guessing the new pitch will be slightly longer?

That's going to be the main problem for most tournaments. At my current tournament venue there is already a very slight overhang with some pitches. That extra 14cm will turn it into involuntary table flip territory unless we play sideways.

This isn't news though is it. The new website is news, but talking about the pitch is something we've done already.

Someone giving a number is news.

That suggests 140 / 26 = 5.38 mm more per square, so from 29 to 34.38 mm? Unless the outer grass and black zone affects it. Based in video, computed number was 33.6 if base was 32.

What Steam Ball said.

I knew the new pitch was going to be bigger, but I didn't know that the width of the actual board wasn't changing, or exactly how much longer the pitch was going to be.

Totally not trying to make this thread a shit fight about the pitch and I certainly appreciate the extra info JT-Y, so cheers for that. You've provided several useful tidbits of info the last few months.

Is there a release date yet or any inclination that the boxed set is here to stay?

I'm a British Freebooter, will play for any team including Undead (I have my own Apothecary). Good rates.

No release date yet, but the fact that the website is now operational suggests that a release date is very close.

From what I have read, the long term survival of the boxed set and likelihood of future releases (i.e. minis for more teams released, new "season" rules) all depends on how well the first lot of stuff sells. What we don't know is how high the sales expectations bar has been set.

I like the new models for the skaven they look dynamic, almost like the are spitting and snarling.

Also the expansion seems to have 12 players.

The skaven look a lot like their fantasy counterparts, I wonder if they re-used some of the clanrat and stormvermin files as the starting point for these guys?

It is a good idea though, wouldn't take much work to convert them into AoS models. The BB gutters look much better than the night runners they have now.

There are rumours of a big release in November, might be the Mangus the Red model we've been seeing, a big 40K kit or maybe BB?

To the people getting upset at the lack of a full compliment of Black Orcs and Human Blitzers, when was the last boxed release that had a full roster? That's right. There hasn't been. Maybe you're not old enough to remember the 2nd edition where all the miniatures were the same...

The boxed set is aimed at introducing new players who don't yet know about optimal rosters and just want to play. If they like the game they'll dig deeper and buy more stuff (like we've all done on previous releases).
