Re: Blood bowl site and unboxing...
I don't like d3 mvp
In this way i haven't skilled linelf/linenorse anymore
In this way you lost how league works, you skill what you want. 17spp on linenorse are better on a berseker/werewolf
If you want to optimize skilling mode let me choose the mvp.

MB on AV would be used vs AV7 where Claw had no effect.dode74 wrote:Claw/MBer
Claw on AV, MB on injury.
MB on AV (because?)
However, James Hewitt has confirmed that Claw should have been unchanged and that will be in the errata released. I believe PO is also due errata but he didn't confirm the details. He wanted to avoid further confusion by and didn't have a printed copy of the new rule available, so that sounds like it's definitely changing, just maybe not in the same manner as was printed.

Yeah, I was thinking about when the two would be used together for purposes of calculating the odds. AV7 is AV7 for that and you can treat Claw/MB as just MB for those purposes. Not that it's necessary now because, as you say:Vanguard wrote:MB on AV would be used vs AV7 where Claw had no effect.

I'm not so sure. James said Claw should not have changed and would be as it was before. However, he avoided giving the errata version for Piling On as he didn't have a copy to hand and didn't want to risk confusion by writng from memory. That suggests it's not as simple as just 'the same as CRP but optional'.dode74 wrote:Given the podcast my suspicion is that the change will merely be the optionality.

At the risk of trying to be positive, let's all be grateful that BloodBowl didn't get the massive re-write that 8th edition WHFB did.

Spoilsport. Let the people enjoy their apocalypse for a couple of days at least.dfunkateer wrote: At the risk of trying to be positive, let's all be grateful that BloodBowl didn't get the massive re-write that 8th edition WHFB did.
I think this misprint is a blessing in disguise: we all get to let loose with the wailing and the rending of garments that has been building up since the announcement of a new version and then in a couple of days we get to bask in the soothing salve that is errata. There just wasn't enough meat on Weeping Blades to really cry havoc.

Sorry not seeing all the panic
We know the errata is going to change things, so at the minute people are going off the handle with half the information.
As for the grab debate....really....mountains and mole hills here.
How many players are going to take grab as a early skill or in a skill limited tournament environment?
Are you really going to give up a guard or MB for Grab??? Id love to sit down opposite a coach that had taken 2 grab, and sacrificed 2 MB or guard in a 6 skill tournament environment.
Yes you might see more grab as a third skill in longer leagues, but correct me if i am wrong SS would counters grab.
So your dwarf with G,MB, Overpowered grab, vs A Elf with B,D,SS. Three skills each, not much changes, results in a standard push.
As with every editions changes, builds and tactics change to suit. I cant see how anything is broken and the skys falling in...
Prime example on Fumbbl i build my dwarves as follows : Guard, MB, Fend. Simply as count to pile on element of CPOMB.
In a tournament its guard, sometimes MB. Is this going to change? Well Fumbbl i might take grab instead of Fend depending on the errata. But its still on a MV5, AG3 or MV4 AG2 player. hardly going to break the game, i am still going to run a wall of guard, MB, tackle into the front of the column and let you roll ones to dodge away, and slowly grind you down to nothing.
FFS nothing we have seen has broken the game or changed it fundamentally. I play Warhammer, so i know what TOTALLY changes a game, this is some mods, not a rewrite.
If you cant take some changes ask yourself is it because you have some medical condition, in which case seek help, or you only have one idea on how to play the game, in which case change might improve you as a player, or is it that you think you know better then others, in which case it displays terrible arrogance.
At the end of the day, i keep using the word GAME. This is not life or death. Its a GAME. If you don't like it you know where the door is.

Re: Blood bowl site and unboxing...
Andy Hoare has posted in detail on Facebook and looks to be confirming that Claw, Mighty Blow and Piling On should be unchanged from CRP, other than PO becoming optional.
Andy Hoare wrote: Hi all
I just wanted to address the issue of rules changes in Death Zone Season 1, so we can let you guys know what happened, what’s happening, and then crack on with enjoying Blood Bowl (although Jonathan Taylor-Yorke insists the game is not supposed to be fun and that I’m doing it all wrong!).
Back when we began the Blood Bowl 2016 project at the start of the year we received numerous messages from players, almost all of them asking us to consider changes to Claw, Piling On and Mighty Blow. Though we were reticent to make any changes to the CRP we thought it sensible to try some alternatives, which our playtest group trialed for several months. At the end of that period however, and in consultation with our contacts in the community, we reached the conclusion these rules shouldn’t be changed, and instead addressed it by making Piling On an optional rule.
However, it’s transpired that the dreaded Version Control Goblins have been at our files and the playtest versions of several skill descriptions have got out into the wild and made it into print.
So what do we do? Well, the first thing was not to make any knee-jerk reactions, but to listen to what you guys were actually saying about the rules as published. There’s been a lot of perfectly justifiable objection, but in amongst it all has been some very interesting and useful feedback, for which we sincerely thank those that gave it. Having given the matter a lot of thought and having spoken to some very experienced Blood Bowl players, we’ve decided that the best thing to do is errata the skills in question so they reflect what we meant them to say all along. This does mean that a couple of skills will be wrong in the first print run of the book and so we’ll release an errata download when the game is released and ensure that future iterations use the correct wording.
Hopefully now we can all enjoy some competitive violence, and I hope to see some of you guys at Warhammer World this weekend!
All the best

They did. They decided to release a new edition of BB and massively age themselves within a few short days of of people seeing it in the wild and taking to the internet to talk about it.lawquoter wrote:Hey, they brought a form of ageing back!
It's been very effective.

We need to have the old "pro/ against" ageing threads handy for the disputes that will soon be raised from the dead.
On a side note, it feels rather odd saying "BB" again without fear of C&Ds.

Hey ... I could have told them that! There is little thanks for a BB rules developer JT-Y while it is happening. 2 years later ... the sore is gone and the love was left. You were a glutton for punishment, Mr. Anders. I recall many threads where Galak was mentioned in vain. AND you love to play 'flings!GalakStarscraper wrote:

Re: Blood bowl site and unboxing...
That's a good point, it also means you can avoid certain players ever getting the MVP now. So dead players, mercs, stars and journeymen can never steal the MVP which is both good and bad I suppose.DOA wrote:I don't like d3 mvp

Plus there are some instances where a player has enough skills and you don't want him to get any more as they are not worth the TV. So you can limit that a bit as well.
But maybe these are optional league rules as those seem to be more suggestions.

Any spoilers out on how the "re-drafting" and "wants to retire" works?
