I lost 2:0. I played Goblins, he Dwarfs and 85% of all my dice-rolls failed. So its not a bad score, I guess. TR both ca. 140.
What makes the whole thing a little sour is that I told the money lending coach beforehand what I will freeboot for the final (and then obviously he started to help my opponent) and he played at the same time the match for the 3rd place. He escaped a handicap roll by 1 point. I guess this handicap-evasion was not planned by him, but still looks cheezy. Maybe its legal but I guess, its open to abuse. The next time when I play him, my team will borrow enough money to buy a RR. Great, more RR, less TR, I can play the same style if he wants...

Sounds a bit more cheesy now... I wouldn't tell him any more tactics...

Maybe the lending system would be improved if TR of the lending coach did not go down (so TR=value of team+SPP/5+Treasurey+outstanding loans)

That was what we settled upon afterwards. I opted for no loans, it makes a crucial difference if you can get the missing 20-30K before a match to buy a RR or another Blitzer or Trollslayer. IMO lending money undermines the game mechanic of money management in BB.

We tried money lending for a few season many years ago and it was quickly nixed...too many shifty things can go on and some players form a pact with themselves only, barring other players.

The end-zone “line of death” does not discriminate when one tempts fate by using a “go for it” to pass over it.

Yeah as a general rule I would say no. I don't think BB was meant for that. Its up to the League Commissioner to keep a check on these sorts of things and rule OK or not.

In my local league there are two rules for lending money:

1. You may never lend money to yourself.
2. Both teams must play at least 1 game before the money is returned.

The first rule exists for obvious reasons.

The second rule is there to ensure that both teams play at least one game with a modified TR. You can't lend money to someone and then get it back before your next game...

We allow money to be lent - but it still counts for both team ratings. Its stops people giving away money to lose TR, but allows you to help someone who got unlucky.

We don't have any rules to enforce payment, but loans can be cancelled at the end of season.

It seems to work okay. People are reluctant to lend money unless they consider the cause deserving enough.
