Don't get me wrong. I'm not advocating dropping Ogres from the Goblin roster. This was just a statement that some coaches choose a more character based choice in player selection rather than the more tactical choice. Similar to my Orcs I run in both of my leagues. They don't take big guys purely for my own fluff reasons.

Those are of the rosters that don't need them at all. Which rosters would you propose dropping them from?

You know, I don't think Dwarves need them? You do?

Not to be misunderstood here.

I think Dwarves should lose Ogres and be able to buy Deathrollers for 40k under the new SW rules.

I think Goblins should only be able to have Trolls and get the free secret weapon roll each game.

I think Halflings should only be able to take on-pitch Take Root Treemen and have the free Master Chef as head coach

Other than these changes, I'm prefectly happy with the current Big Guy rules. I don't see Big Guys running over my league. 5 of the top 6 teams in my league don't have any Big Guys, and I haven't seen anyone suggesting that we need to cut back on them at all beyond what we already planned (which was to reduce the Chaos Pact team to only being able to have 2 and they have to be different (which varies from the Annual 2003)).

Possibly the player cost formula just doesn't work for Big Guys? I'd just drop the 1/2 price for skills above 100k for them.
1) They'd become rare.
2) They become more valuable for their teams. Something precious and very special.
3) They'd become more awwesome when actually seen on the pitch.
4) Acquiring a Big Guy could become a moment of celebration in team history. Something to look forward to for their coaches.
5) All these combined might be much more fluffy.

just my 2p :smoking:

Again ... somebody someday will have to tell me what I'm missing ... I cannot see a single reason from either of my leagues to restrict, change, or up the price on Big Guys. .... seriously .... I don't see what you all are seeing.

I'd drop Ogres from Orc teams too.
Orc teams should take Trolls if we're going for fluff reasons.

If we're going to have the Deathroller I'd much rather see a higher start up price - say 60k - followed by a 10 or 20k per match maintenance fee, without the confiscation rules (its one thing to confiscate a dagger or chainsaw - but a Deathroller is a slightly different case.

Thadrin: If the team couldn't pay the upkeep, would they lose the Deathroller entirely, or would it just miss the next game? Would it need maintenance for a missed game?

It would miss the game. It would to all intents and purposes be a freebooter that was permanently on roster. No maintenance needed for a missed game...so you could choose not to use it. If the machine is Cas'd it's wrecked and the costs will equal the original purchase fee.

I think I failed out on the math section of this quiz .... 60k to buy with 20k per a match maintenance is actually MORE expensive than the MBBL rules for next season which figure out to 40k to buy and 20k per a match maintenance. .... they really are basically the same thing.

Was there a maintenance mentioned somewhere? Or does that come from the fact that it would be confiscated so often that continuously having it would count just like having a 20K maintenance fee?
