it just seems to me like this is the _official_ bb outlet, in theory it should have the choice of articles, fluff, and new art... they're filling what, 32 pages every other month? and they come up with what, maybe 2 or three pages in each issue worth the read...
maybe it's the fact that the three people who make this magazine have too much to do, maybe they don't do a good enough job of petitioning for content, maybe bb just doesn't generate enough quality material on the whole... i know that when i used to subscribe to warmag, it was actually a vital suppliment to the game, and a thicker magazine at that... bb mag just sucks.
maybe it should be quarterly... maybe they need to farm out editorial duties to one of the fools who'd do it for free and spend 10 times the time on it... maybe we're just stupid enough to keep buying it, but being bb fans, we'd buy jervis's empty soda cans if they had a bb logo on them, so i guess that could explain it...
I feel that comparing Warmag to BBMag is comparing apples to oranges really. The Warmaster rule book only has rules for 6 armies. Since that time they have more than doubled the number of armies in the game as well as adding new units for existing armies. The game started off in a more of an infancy stage. The Magazine has been vital to the growth of the game.
Blood Bowl, on the other hand was more or less "complete" when the LRB was created. New rosters and new official rules are going to be few and far between. This makes filling the magazine worthwhile new "official" material rather difficult.
Having the magazine switch to quarterly publication has some positives to it. However, I would be concerned that GW would interpret that as dwindling interest in the product and consider dropping it all together.
