New Handbook/Old Handbook

Post by Zen »

Hi

I bought what I thought to be the latest Blood Bowl Handbook last autumn. I was quite happy about this, as it was better quality than my printed Living Rulebook and looked more official. I was talking to a GW red shirt the other night about Blood Bowl, and he told me that there had been a newer handbook released a few weeks ago.

My questions are:

1) Can anybody corroborate this?
2) If its true, why did they release a new handbook so soon after the last (I thought it was to be at least 1 year apart)?
3) What were the changes, if any (I was told that Khemri and Ogres were now legal, but Lizardmen, Amazon and Norse were not. I was also told that secret weapons could be given to anyone)?

Thanks

Zen

There is a new annual (i.e rules clarifications etc) but no new printed rulebook.

For clarification:

Rulebook most up to date:
LRB 2.0, available for download only at www.bloodbowl.com, there you'll find also the newest Q&A sheet

Rulebook which can be bought separately/within the BB Game Box:
LRB 1.3 (printed officially)

Annual 2003:
Includes the changes from LRB 1.3 to 2.0 inlcuding Q&A sheet. Also includes revised experimental roster and rules which had been printed in the BBMags # 3-6.

BTW, 50% what the GW dude told you is crap, especially official/experimental teams which he obviously confused.

actually the current printed handbook is the printed version of 1.3, there are still some changes and it got released out of date, the printed handbook still says treemen can get help with the stand up roll, but in 1.3 this was removed and made a 4+ roll with no mods

don't know if this was ammended in the annual though :/

Thanks for clearing this up. So I'm Ok as long as I've got the Handbook and the errata sheet then?

Is it worth buying the Annual?

Well, the thinking is that Handbook + current Annual = complete and up to date printed ruleset.
It's worth getting IMO, run a search or something to find the contents.

It was removed in the LRB 2.0 on the website, but not removed from the printed Handbook. It's also not mentioned as removed in the annual. I guess it's another one of those "undocumented" changes.
