SORRY, OBVIOUSLY I'M TOO STUPID TO HANDLE POLL THREADS, IT VANISHED AFTER I EDITED MY ORIGINAL MESSAGE
There are several Ogre-threads going on at TBB.
Too many Ogres on BB pitches? Are they are too good or too cheap? Do temas need them or not? Should they be restricted or other Big Guys upgraded? Is it fluff-wise or not to have Ogres all around? So many different opinions.
I just wanted to put them together in a general poll.
A note on the option
"Remove Ogres on a large scale from the existing teams"
This means to limit Ogre access to some few teams only (like Humans, Chaos Pact etc.)
Ogres are too good compared to other Big Guys, they are also too widely available as a generic big guy.
Big guys should exist, but should be more limited. Whether it's giving them all a unique version of really stupid which goes inside the Big Guy trait (eg, Ogres and trolls are dimwitted and need someone to point them in the right direction, Rattys and Minos are wild and would stand about foaming and raging if not prodded in the right direction, and Treemen are liable to stand around trying to tell stories and falling asleep if they are reminded what they are supposed to be doing).
Basically, I believe that they (Ogres) should be removed from some rosters (Dwarf, Halfing and Goblin) and reduced in negatrait to the same level as really stupid.

Most important things to change (I voted several of the above):
- Access to Ogres needs to be limited
- Negatrait should be made (slightly) more negative, though not as negative as Really Stupid.
-Maybe occupy positional slots on some Rosters, though I'm not sure about letting BG occupy positional slots on all rosters; for instance on Orc teams it's no problem, but Chaos teams only have for positional players and then this rule might hurt (too much)

Personally, I think that the other big guys are pretty much in line with where I want to see them. I'd like to see the Ogre (and the Kroxigor, for that matter) get downgraded a bit.
The Ogre is playable and balanced. Many people like them and use them. They are not imbalanced versus roster players. However Ogres are superior to all other Big Guys.
Therefore, fix Wild Animal, completely dropp "Really Stupid" and Replace it with "Bone Head". Increase Treeman and Troll AG to 2 to make all Big Guys equally suited to throwing teammates. Give Trolls Acces to Passing skills, so that they are considered the #1 TTM Big Guy even if they tend to eat their scoring opportunities.
if you are going to include big guys in the game (YES! - thats what we want) you have to give ALL teams access to big guys. Not just increase the number of position players for high elf and dark elf etc...
now, the question is:
how powerful do we want those big guys as rookies?
since every team is supposed to have access to a big guy (the team rosters are supposed to be balanced before the addition of big guys) we do not have to think about big guys unbalancing the existing team rosters, we only have to create balanced big guys.
this is of course where the problem resides, and deciding which team gets witch big guy...of course.
anyhow...once upon a time i made some big guy rules (the current ones were stupid, but have improved A LOT since).
ogre 5 4 2 9 - thick skull
troll 4 5 1 9 - regenerate
treeman 2 5 1 10 - thick skull, stand firm
minotaur 5 4 2 8 - horns, thick skull
vampire 6 4 3 8 - regenerate, hypnotic gaze
rat ogre 6 4 3 8 - prehensile tail
no negative traits...but on the other hand managable strength (according to the rules back then, big guys could increase their str if they rolled a double)
with the big guy rule: no team rerolls...i belive they would become quite an attractive addition to blood bowl.
anywho, present official rules are good...with minor tweaks.
increase the trolls ST to 6 (he will cost 130k then...right?) - keep really
erease the "act first" rule for wild animal...but add that the wild animal will not handle the ball under any circumstances. retain the "recieves no assists when blocking"
change the "take root" to 4+ to act (like really stupid) and add the modifiers for standing up with the help of a teammate or remove the "take root" negative trait.
