Ridiculous assumption from my point of view. I tried some basher teams now and then and faced no problems to develop them as fast as Woodies just by casualities. That's at least my experience.
I disargee. I have developed my high elves team much faster than my CDwarvers. I have played at least two matches with my CD were there was only one opponent player left in the field and only made 1 casuality in the whole match.
. On the last match to make a point with my bull centaur I had to place him in the td zone and give him the ball with one of my hobos (using the re-roll)

There's no need for rule changes to realise your ambitious project. Everything is there already. So go ahead and don't act like you were Don Quichotte (what's the right spelling of that one?).
I believe is Don Quijote

Actually ... yup on are right .... swearing and making it personal gets it locked.
Besides ... for the most part this has degraded into a discussion on the validity of FUMBBL data instead of Toby's original post.
The mods aren't supposed to delete comments anymore without discussion. So I'll see if they want to delete the personal attacks and reopen the thread or just leave it locked.
And Toby ...the * doesn't permit the comment you made.

Toby asked nicely for me to just delete everything from where it went wrong and to reopen the topic.
Toby et all ... play civil ... save your slams/flames for PMs, please.
And Toby ... the best way to ask someone if they got your PM ... is just to PM them again and ask if they got it.

BB Online Supremacy
Just my two-cents:
Toby,
I love the "Johnny McEnroe" in you. It reminds me of myself when I "blow a gasket" at this game (I HATE ELVES!). Keep the fire burning! Release is good for the soul! Share it with others!
Good luck in your quest for Online BB Supremacy! Dare to dream and dream big! There was an article in "Newsweek" on professional gamers a few years ago for the Ultima game. Good luck!
Personally, I believe that I wouldn't enjoy the game as much online. I tried an online game, but hated it because the server would crash every thirty minutes. Also, I wasn't really thrilled with sitting in front of a computer screen by myself. Boring! Also, I look forward to Friday night when my league meets. This gets me out of the house and human interaction is good. I enjoyed creating and painting my teams. I like talking smack with the other coaches. A league of 1000 couldn't get quality personal "smack" running.
I would be more impressed with 100 live coaches in a tournament compared to 1000 in an online tournament.
Again, just my two cents! Waiting for your curses...oops, I meant response.

I haven't read ALL of this thread, just some bits and pieces- I don't have a ton of spare time and I'm a slow reader.
ANYWAYS, I for one think that an online Blood Bowl would be brilliant and help with sales. Follow me; I've actually mentioned this before at BBC (maybe even here too).
GW refines Ski's Javabowl, allows for players to upload pics of their mini's for their teams and has a NAF site were players met and match-up. League and tournament possibilites as well.
Then they press a CD and include it in the box set for Blood Bowl, with a key code for the disk inside the box; disk required for playing online.
GW WILL LOVE THIS IDEA, BECAUSE THEN WE'D ALL HAVE TO BUY THE NEW BLOD BOWL BOX SET. Or they could sell if seperately for like $15 or something.
Basically a GW version of the FUMBBL league; but with the software REFINED and more options (game settings before the match; add/ remove/ change rules). Kinda like what EA Sports does with Madden and it's other sports games online.
For those of you that think sitting in front of a computer is boring, well for A LOT OF PEOPLE, this may be the only way to get to play. Imagine those that just moved to po-dunkville and don't have a game shop for hours or those that due to work, can't make a regularly scheduled game night. Online is a good way to get more gamers involved, and therefor get more of GW's attention to the game we all love.

Tommy316's comment was quite interesting, and in fact made me reply to this thread.
I, too, think it would be a good idea to have some sort of a PC game. The best option for me would be a game that plays online as well as a stand alone (is that the correct wording for "not online"??).
What I'd like this game to be, though :
-Absolutely, positively, purely vanilla LRB (meaning: no experimental stuff, when it's official, it's in the game);
-When there's a LRB update, there's a free patch that goes with it;
-Allows us to upload our own mini pictures to go with our teams.
They do it, I buy it !

Excellent ideas
Now you are thinking! I like the idea about the disk and something compared to Madden by EA. Madden 2004 is out August 11th. I think a BB-type game would be great!
I lived in the armpit of the world and made it out every Saturday to play. I would drive forty minutes to play the "game I love to hate" and would spend many hours in the store (and a lot of money). When you love to play, you make the time.
I just hope everyone gets a chance to play this game live. Half the fun is bickering about the game/a rule. In a small league, you can actually vote in a change.

If you yelled, "Illegal Procedure!" at your computer, would anyone hear?

I don't have any dedicated TT leagues near me, and would partcipate if it was straight LRB BB, but not if it was "Bloodbowl in name, but changed to suit online gamers"

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

That would be the options/ game settings part I mentioned; it would allow for straight vanilla rules, but if you're interested in trying an experimental rule or two, then you could add those rules to your game.
Stand Alone would also be a nice feature too.
Definite patch updates.
Upload player pics.
Possible online voice chat compatiblity.
Basically JavaBowl on steriods!!!
BloodBowl in name and game play!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely!!!!
Haven't read all the posts, not interested in re-inventing the wheel. I like BB just the way it is. Change is good, but small stuf like skills, races, secret weapons, etc.,etc.. Nothing to change the mechanics.
