I voted for A...
the ogres will make a considerable difference - an ogre is much harder to avoid than a tree, especially one that no longer has a TZ.
The kicker for team B won't make a lot of difference.
The Chef is a little better for B, but won't make as much difference as the ogre vs. the immobile trees.

I prefer team B as an option.
Team A I think is clearly stronger - get this, me agreeing with Toby, because he hit the nail on the head.
Especially combined with that Chef version.

I voted for A
-since kick won't help you too much on such a 'slow' team (and is expensive)
-the ogres are faster (=more range) and more reliable
-on pitch take root will shut down a player on the filed in team B leaving you with ten (at best). In team A you can at least field 11 players actually doing something, and if only to create a tackle zone or soak up a blitz.
-master chef is only slightly worse on team A, not enough to have a big impact

I won some impressive titles in 198X, some more in 199X, even more impressive titles in 200X, some of them REALLY impressive, and a few even MORE impressive! Not to mention a lot of less impressive ones.

I go for B. The only issue might be that Hafling cages might not be as effective since the longer the drive, the more chance your tree may take root so there might be some pressue to score quicker with B. Things could also go worserer faster with B since a long drive either way may mean not only are your haflings getting pounded but your trees have taken root and are out of it.
Early in development
Teams need rerolls because they lack skills--->advantage B
Treeman need 1 assist for 3dice, Ogres need 2 so Ogres expect to fail more blocks. --->advantage B
ST6 alot harder to get even 1die block on than ST5 so trees stand longer and have AR10 so get hurt less--->advantage B
Treeman and Ogres fumble TTM at the same rate--->advantage none (ok a smidgen for the Ogre since the landing may be easier once and a while...but you can reroll that roll)
2 Ogres 20k more so may have less depth or ff to start--->advantage B
Later in team development
Teams don't need rerolls as much but now haflings have money to spent 20k and get two rerolls a half...or if it's really important 40k and 3 rerolls --->advantage B
Ogre gets block but Treemen get Pro and now don't get stuck nearly as often --->advantage B

I voted for B because I think the free halfling chef is a big advantage in my opinion. Stealing re-rolls can really help a team out. Also, being able to use the tree more often is a big advantage in my mind.

I dont think that the MC version 2 is thats good in the begining. You need to pay him each half, wich can be expensive. It Is good later on in teamdevelopment though, if you REALLY wanna be anoying and steal all 8 of the opponents rerolls..
But it would cost though, but might be better than putting that money into a starplayer.
As for kick i have never really found it that useful, not something you can rely on, and really not big factor in my mind. It could be a little useful against slow-low agility teams, but they dont care much about the ball anyway when facing halflings.

Team A
In my experience, Ogres are far more reliable than Treemen. Even with the new Take Rule proposal, it seems like the Treemen will have sort of a "Super Bone Head". I think the power that Ogres provide for a team even out weighs the Chef's ability (especially when going against developed teams).
Granted, I don't play the Halfings (or the Goblins) to win. I play for the comedy
