Discuss Fantasy football-style board games - GW's Blood Bowl, Impact!'s Elfball, Privateer Press' Grind, Heresy's Deathball, etc. THIS IS NOT AN NFL FANTASY FOOTBALL SITE!

Lets see, your contention that Blood Bowl and WFB are completely separate universes, is based on the fact that Cabal vision and chain saws exist in Blood Bowl?
Time to inform you af a little bit of WFB fluff. Cabal vision is a form of magical communication invented by wizards. It's application is widespread in the colleges of magic. Only recently, has its use been put to broadcasting Blood Bowl games. In the wfb 4th edition rule book it even mentions mass telepathic communications.
So Cabal Vision does exist in WFB.
Chainsaws and death rollers are a standard weird invention. They show up all the time in WFB, take for example the steam tank. Just because they are not used on the battle field does not mean they do not exist, mealy that their numbers are to small to be used in regular battle. The college of engineers has many such experimental weapons, only a few get made into useful war weapons.
So nothing rules out their not existing in WFB.
And, their is no such thing as cyber-fantasy (unless you want to set blood bowl in a shadow run type universe)! Cyber is a sifi term short for cybernetic i.e. organic and/or mechanical persons with parts of the other added in. Fantasy is swords and sorcery type universe set in a time frame that is pre-Renaissance (sometimes during or shortly post never modern or post-modern). The only exceptions are those worlds where magic has invaded a moder or post-modern world (shadowrun being the most prominent), but we can agree that blood bowl is not set in these.
JJ is the head of fanatic, the studio branch dedicated to the specialist games (the non-core games). He still has to answer to the head of GW. He is only the care taker of these games, if he messes with the company's policy of selling Warhammer based games, he will be brought back into line. Blood Bowl will stay as part of the WFB setting for as long as GW sells warhammer games. The only way to change that is to make GW change its policy.

Blood Bowl is WFB Football, not Football with a bit of generic fantasy garbage thrown in!
Mistwrath seeing as you are in american i guess you weren't at the blood bowl and hence got to speak to jervis
he can take blood bowl where ever he wants, he said its going into its own blood bowl universe and ignoring warhammer, he himself used the term cyber punk and a return to the look of second edition
the only things that he has to answer to is about the pricing and stock issues and stuff like that, as for rules and fluff he is free to as he pleases and doesn't have to answer to anyone, he is in control of blood bowl as a game and the warhammer guys in the studio have no control over what he does
Iirc fanatic is a seperate company under the GW banner, in the same way that GWUS is a seperate company from GWUK.

Yeah, I'm afraid that MistWraith is sorely mistaken. BB world is a mix of a fantasy world, modern-day sports phenomen, cyber-inventions of steam-powered age and slapstick humour.
It's actually quite far from the dark world of warhammer fantasy battle.

Going back to the original subject for a second, if we're having 'non-fluff woodies' why not keep the Wardancers and drop the treemen?
As far as player names are concerned i'm not bothered either way so long as the teams are balanced and interesting, but I think it will cause a fair bit of confusion changing all the player names now.

The short answer is "no", but it is a qualified "no" because there are odd ways of interpreting the question which could justify the answer "yes".
Mistwraith: there is a single, undeniable, and utterly convincing piece of evidence that proves conclusively that the world where they play Blood Bowl and the Warhammer world are NOT the same place.
Ready? Good.
JERVIS SAID SO.
150 odd of us heard him say this at the Blood Bowl NAF seminar.
He wrote the game, he has the final word on EVERYTHING in the game, and that should be good enough for anyone. Think what you like, but thats the way it is.

JJ has said a lot of crap that is not true. See my post above for details.
The head of GW, not the studio not fanatic the head CEO of the whole company has said they are in the business of producing Warhammer hobby games and supplements. Not generic fantasy sports games. He signs JJ pay check, so he is the Boss.

Fine, Mistwraith, believe what you want. The rest of us will get on believing what we know to be true
