Personally, I find that if a team requires a special rule that fundamentally changes the game, then the team is poorly designed and should be scrapped.
IMO, this is as true for the old ogre team (8 players on the pitch), as it is true for the ogre version with the "doubled" TR.
I'd prefer a simple roster:
0-12 ogres with Really Stupid!
0-4 goblins
Really stoopid would make them very unreliable both short term and long term, and it would probably drop the price of ogres another 10K, making a 4 goblin starting roster possible.
Martin
PS, as for dauntless on the little guys. If the kicking rules ever become official, then the stunties have access to that nut-kicker skill.

Ogre testing on roster 1 is still under way, and 2 of the next 3 games have been completed. I'm hoping to finish and post the third tomorrow.

Okay ... had a talk with the powers that be ... JJ et all.
I talked about the TBB roster and what some of the reservations were.
The team got minor editing which now makes it in line with the minis, make the Ogre stat line Ogres without being fast Trolls and has no special team rules (as long as RS is returned to its wording in BB Compendium #1 and BB Mag #1).
http://www.midgardbb.com/GWTeams/RevisedGWRosters.html
I don't expect the roster to get any more tweaks in the near future.
Skummy and ANYONE else who is testing any of these 3 Ogre rosters in league play ... could you PM reports about the testing or post them here ...either one.
All 3 rosters have potential. I think I agree with Zombie that #3 is just still TOO good. #1 is on the bubble, but I think it could work long term (I acknowledge that Zombie does not believe it will), and I like #2 a lot and I "think" Zombie saw this as a workable roster ... not sure.
Anyway, we have until October 2004 to figure out which of the 3 is workable so if anyone gets one of these rosters out to 20 to 25 games ... I'd REALLY be interested in the feedback.

Really Stoopid should also drop the price of the models from $15.00 APEICE to just $6.50!

I really like number 2 on one condition: the whole name "ogre thrower" does my head in. Can we call that position Ogre Blitzer instead? (I know its a stupid and essentially pointless thing, but it grates referring to an ogre as a thrower.GalakStarscraper wrote:Okay ... had a talk with the powers that be ... JJ et all.

That "Really stupid" will hurt a lot.
Still not keen at all on the penalty on roster 3.

My two cents:
Ogre team number one is the best!
I am opposed to number two because relly stupid is too severe on the majoity of your players.
I am opposed to number three because: 1) anything that takes money out of my pockets stinks and 2) a free handicap may seem okay now. Eventually, after the handicap table is changed/updated, this free handicap will become too severe.
I will gladly accept either two or three if you would simply add tackle to the Ogres. Anything that will cause elves to dies faster is acceptable to me.

I think #2 Looks great; most interesting to play with/against and no special rules, except that the ogres get Really Stupid instead.
We'll see what happens in 2004...

Actually Thadrin ... no you cannot call him a Blitzer. JJ was VERY clear about this. They didn't make an Ogre Blitzer, they made an Ogre Thrower fig.Thadrin wrote: I really like number 2 on one condition: the whole name "ogre thrower" does my head in. Yes they are making a decision and the decision will 95% be that the team needs to be experimental one more year. Seriously, don't rush this team ... I understand that the figs are out, but an entire ST 5 team is one I'd rather see working with long term data than one rushed into officialdom with no one knowing the answer to Zombie's what happens to the team at 20 games out.Agentrock wrote:They aren't making a decision on this team this year in October?GalakStarscraper wrote:Anyway, we have until October 2004 to figure out which of the 3 is workable...

Oh, I understand the need not to rush the team(s) and to see how they pan out over the long...it's just GW's rush to put them in the mags as a team list and to have minis which had me thinking they wanted to make them official sooner.
Do you think there will be an official stance on the Khemri and Rotters by October 2003?

The end-zone “line of death” does not discriminate when one tempts fate by using a “go for it” to pass over it.

Necro, Vampire, Khemri, the 3 Pact Teams, and Rotters will probably all be finalized and added to the game in October if I had to guess ... please not this is not based on any inside information. Just my best guess from what I know.Agentrock wrote:Do you think there will be an official stance on the Khemri and Rotters by October 2003?
