maybe if you gave the runner pass to start and he couldn't get any passing skills after that, that would be one thing. but not even letting them get pass without doubles is too much.

Anybody can pass the ball and elves without pass are better at it than any other race without it. They can still pass the ball if they want to and still be pretty good at it. They don't need to start with pass and taking away the PA access just gives them a better opportunity to develope an interesting runner. The idea is to have a more varied and interesting team and not one that is too similar to other ones out there (HEs).

well being different is nice and all, but you have to keep balance and common sense in mind as well.

Hmm.
Suddenly a lot of people got really difficult.
Just to straigh things out a bit.
In my original post on the idea, I mentioned it wouldn't matter much what we though, as nothing will happen anyway.
The concept was thinking of a way, to make the Dark Elf team fit more with it's background, and differenting them more from the High Elf team.
Now, I completely understand all the people who are leery in giving ST access to dark elves, and all that. What I was looking for, was mainly if anybody had a way of making them more in tune with the concept of the team. Meaning a more bashy, running elf team.
So What I'm basically after, is a way to make them more so.
I think they work fine as they are, no arguments there, I just wanted to find a way to ive them a different play style. Because at the moment, I think the vast majority of elf coaches out there, would play Dark Elves and High elves in practically the same way. I know I do.
So, If you please, think of ways to make them more in line with the concept of the team (bashy and running) without going overboard, and don't just rip apart any ideas that are brought up without trying to find some other solution.

I don't think it will be either, because you can only gain so many skills. You would suddenly have to choose between dodge, or mighty blow, tackle or guard. You still ned a couple of em to be made into catchers.TeLef0n0 wrote:I like the idea about the faster runner without pass and PA-acces.
In our league we play with 4 blitzers with ST-acces, and its not too powerful from my point of view
I think people overestimate the effect it would have, to be perfectly honest.

taking a way a major part of a team's strategy will affect whether or not they're balanced with the rest of the teams in a very fundamental way. i don't see how that can't be extremely self-evident.Torg wrote:What does not giving them pass have anything to do with unbalancing them or going against common sense. It would seem to be common sense that if the DEs are supposed to be a running team, they would start with runners who run with the ball (not pass it).
and elves who aren't good at throwing is pretty much against common sense. they may choose not to do so very often, but not being able to is silly.

I hate ST access for Elves because it lets them get Guard way too easily. Doubles on an Elf team should be a tough choice between Guard and Dauntless, but if you make one really easy, it makes the team a lot better in my mind. Plus, Elves with Stand Firm?TeLef0n0 wrote:In our league we play with 4 blitzers with ST-acces, and its not too powerful from my point of view

I voted D, though, like the others here, I don't like the Str skill access...
However, maybe removing Pa access from the team and giving Str in return on either Blitzer or Witch Elf, could (with enough playtesting) be a good idea to make them different from HE.
They'll still be OK with passing over short range, but over longer ranges will be more difficult.
An alternate option could then be to have a 6348 Pass Runner at 80,000 with no access to passing skills; still good at passing, but will never be as good as HE/WE Throwers

I have a better idea! Kill all the Elves, raze all their communities, destroy every remaining prove of their existence and kill anyone who says that elves existed once! Now THAT is a good idea!
However... I think it would be better to give the witch elves and not the blitzers access to ST skills. First, because there are only two of them (as opposite to four blitzers). Second, if we make the piling on/jump up combo easier for them, they'll be on the ground more time, so they'll be easier to kill. Third, it seems more accurate to me that the followers of the god of murder, with their access to all kinds of herbs, potions, martial arts practices, and all the other bizarre stuff that you can find in the temple, could learn easier how to bash people properly (okay, this last bit is WFB fluff, but I think it could make sense).

Women should never have access to Str skills, however
(Amazons, I keep saying, are not women but Norse in drag!)

I may have missed it, but there is no option to leave them as they are. That would have been my preferred option, but if that's no available, then I guess that I'd got for options D or E. I like the movement in E, but not the low AV (I have enough trouble keeping my elves alive as it is, with my cr@ppy apothcary rolling 1s regularly).
