Anything that adds Official Teams is a Good Thing(tm). Variety is good. The more the better.

Of all the teams you listed Galak, #2 is the only one i'd be prepared to accept in a league, and then only if testing shows that really stupid is enough to keep them in check.

And i still say it's stupid that ogres aren't big guys. Just look at the size of the figs!

Big is a relative term. Big Guy deals with the player compared to the rest of the team. Compared to the rest of the team the ogres are normal sized and fit in.They aren't "big guys" compared to the rest of the team and therefore they don't intimidate the other players nor make practice more difficult. The re-rolls are high priced to show that they are poor at practicing but they can still use them because they are made to feel like outsiders during practice.

I've played 3 games with the #2 roster and the Really Stupid really does work to keep the team in check, add to that only 4 players can help them and those guys break like twigs and the roster definitely appears to work SO FAR.

I put that in caps, because I'll be the first to agree that more testing is needed to see how they all work.

And I agree with Dark Lord, I don't have any problem with an all Ogre team not having Big Guy. The problems that make them unable to use rerolls with normal teams would not exist on an all Ogre squad just like he said.

A lot of the griping about non big guy Ogres is becasue Undead teams can raise them, which is a little strange.

As for the rosters themselves, Ogre #1 is going to be fairly competitive when it finally develops.

undead teams can't raise them, they aren't human sized

just like they were never able to raise the larger sized players before the big guy rules even came out

not having stunty or big guy doesn't make a player human size does it

Trust me that would be fixed even if the Undead/Necro rules need to say:
"Living Players without Big Guy or Stunty or any member of the Ogre team".

Maybe if the Ogres aren't "Big Guys", the gobbo's could be "Little Guys", who can't use the RR's cos the Ogres won't train with them, just let them turn up on match days. :?:

I'll go now......

Leave it to an N.b.A-er to stick it to the establishment (nice avatar by the way!). 8)

I'm curious as to whether all of the proposed Ogre rosters are being tested? If so, do we have any results to compare against each other?

MBBL has 56 teams this season ... 6 Ogre teams:

Ogre #1: (2 games played, 1.5 cas inflicted/game so far)
0 wins - 2 losses (TR 106): http://www.midgardbb.com/MBBL/Season3/RoguesGallery.htm
0 wins - 0 losses (TR 100): http://www.midgardbb.com/MBBL/Season3/RealGeniuses.htm

Ogre #2: (2 games played, 2.0 cas inflicted/game so far)
0 wins - 2 losses (TR 107): http://www.midgardbb.com/MBBL/Season3/T ... ffguyz.htm
0 wins - 0 losses (TR 100): http://www.midgardbb.com/MBBL/Season3/T ... nchers.htm

Ogre #3: (2 games played, 4.0 cas inflicted/game so far)
0 wins - 2 losses (TR 116): http://www.midgardbb.com/MBBL/Season3/E ... orcers.htm
0 wins - 0 losses (TR 100): http://www.midgardbb.com/MBBL/Season3/DaBalistaCrew.htm

This was as of the start of Season 3 of the MBBL. In so far and not included in the above stats:
Ogre #1 Real Geniuses lost to Chaos Dwarf 0-1 and scored only 1 CAS
Ogre #2 The great Munchers lost to Skaven 0-5 and scored 0 CAS

Thanks Galak. Well, it's early, but at least they're losing.

Well, we're done with testing.

After 10 games, the Ogre team 1 roster has 2 wins and 8 losses. The Ogre roster has decided to retire, as they can only field 8 players and 3 Ogres in their next match. Through some rather incredible rolling on the part of the Beastmen, there have been 5 ogre deaths in their last 6 games. 2 Ogre Leaders have died, and 2 Ogres with block have died. Every time they get an Ogre to 13 SPP's, it is as good as a death sentence.

The beastmen finished with a few notable players that have made a big difference in the games. A 4 AG beastmen, a beastmen with RSF, and a Chaos Warrior with Claw all contributed to big problems for the Ogres. In the last game, the RSF player gained Piling On, and another player picked up RSF.

After playing many games against the Ogre #1 roster, I think it can be really dangerous if it ever gets going in the right direction. When the roster won, it was in large part becasue the Ogres would go a turn or two without failing a bonehead roll. When this happened, Chaos was generally helpless against them, even with their higher than average strength. The main handicap on the Ogre roser seemed to be a lack of rerolls more than the Bonehead. The team certainly has the potential to become very scary, if they ever stopped dying.

After 10 games (and with just 10 in mind), what would you suggest be done to the #1 roster to bring it back towards balance? It sounds as if the roster is potentially devestating, but your results didn't show this through incredible dice rolling. :smoking:

I love Ogres, but at $15.00 apiece and terrible rules for them, I hope GW doesn't sell a single one!

BOYCOTT THE OGRES!

Give the Ogres coaches six goblins and then, MAYBE, I'll consider buying some figures!
