We know what to playtest...the teams in the Annual. It looks like the Ogres are going to sit on the sideline for another year of testing from the looks of it, so the're an exception.
As for rules and rulings, there's a huge list on Galak's site that they generally seem to use, based on last year's experience.

Anything I say is totally opinion and (knowing my luck) probably completely wrong. Keep this in mind.

BB Mags and the 2003 Annual list the experimental rules; not the Annual review.gken1 wrote:I think they should be meeting around now to let people begin playtesting rules for the upcoming october rules commitee...at least let us know what's in the works.
The Annual Review just answers Q&A officially, changes rules if they need changing (Piling On and the Handicap table prime candidates this year), and votes on the current Experimental rules.
There are 3 possible votes for each Experimental rule: become official, stay experimental, go to house rules.
Here are the current Experimental rules and the house money on the outcome:
Kicking rules: House
Pact teams: Official but revised from Annual to the b-b.net changes
Vampire: Official, OFAB might get a cleaning from b-b.net changes
Khemri: Official, got me on this one. The team in the Annual is just
not a team the test league likes; so I have 0% clue on
the ending roster.
Necromantic: Official, using Annual roster ... UNLESS the Undead are not
removed from BB ... if the Undead stay the 2nd Necro
team have decent odds to become official.
Rotters: Official, per 2003 Annual
Ogres: Stay Experimental
Master Chef: Official per BB Mag
Runesmith: Official per BB Mag
Secret Weapons: hmmmm my gut says Official; but I really think its
equal odds to staying Experimental for another year.

I'm still doubtful at best regarding the pact teams.
The Chaos one still seems busted to me, the lustrian one plain bad, and the old world no fun (feels like I'm FORCED to have elves to have a decent mix of players.
)
Just my 0.02 though.
The rest sounds fine though. Hope for the SWs to be official, good news on the racial wizards.

Still, it is (more or less) automatically an opponent less, meaning you can't set up anywhere safely with that starplayer.

Ahhh, Good old cards; Blitzkrieg was great, as so many others
I'm very happy that I own a copy of Deathzone
And of course, since it is a wizard, you can use him only once a match (I sort of forgot that)

I hated the old mixed team rules of 2nd ed, and still reluctant to have them back on the pitch. I just made starting teams of the good and evil-pacts and they do not look overpowered to me on the ifrst sight (but I haven't played with them, nor I have any clue on long term effects).Thadrin wrote:I'm still doubtful at best regarding the pact teams.

Having only 4-5 positional players (and only one of each kind!) hurts a lot. Still, the evil-pact has much more choice than the good one whose team composition is more or less fixed due to less choice of races.

Before they make the "Pact" teams official, they need to add the missing teams to them. Currently, Undead (all variants), Chaos Dwarves, Dark Elves (I notice a trend here), and High Elves (trend broken) do not have Pact Teams to play on.
They need to fix this, so that all teams have a pact.
By the fluff, the High Elves could be added to the lustria Pact (seeing as they have a colony there). And the rest could have their own pact (the Undead and Dark Elves are allies in WFB and all three are famous for their use of slaves). A lot of work would need to be done to balance these teams. But, for the sake of completeness it should be done.

Blood Bowl is WFB Football, not Football with a bit of generic fantasy garbage thrown in!
