Just to add to the Orc team debate:
We had a 3ed Orc team dominate our league, but that was largely due to a v. good coach, SPPs for fouling and dirty player.
I play an orc team at the moment and have just added a gobbo for the first time after about 10 games. I had avoided them before because I had underestimated them but they are indeed very good, in fact i've just added another.
On the other hand i'm not convinced by the positions argument, are chaos bad because they only have two positions?
In respect of secret weapons, i'm not sure if i'd like them to be official yet, without further playtesting although i've not used them yet.
As long as they are balanced overall i'll be happy and I guess we'll have to trust the BBRC to make sure of this, they've done a pretty good job so far so i'm not too worried.

The short answer is "no", but it is a qualified "no" because there are odd ways of interpreting the question which could justify the answer "yes".

That's quite a nice example. It does miss the point that the human catcher fails 11% of the time, while the goblin fails ~25% of the time. That's more than twice as bad (because he may burn dodge skill on 1st move).Zombie wrote:The gobbo only has an extra 3+ dodge with reroll to make, and gets just as far as the human catcher with his 8MA. In tight situations, you can easily imagine that the gobbo gains a huge mobility advantage over a human catcher.Code: Select all

Why would BBRC not make the Kicking rules official???
HI
I can maybe understand why they don't want to make the kicking rules official the way the rules are now, but if they maybe make a 3rd edition kicking rules?
I think that its wierd that you cannot kick the ball! REALLY!
IMO i think that the BBRC generaly are to conservative! they are afraid to make some real changes even for the best of the game.
They make a few new roster and what so??? Why not make the game bigger?
They make rosters, i don't care, i want a new official kick off tabel, where there are more choices and remove that Pitch invasion or do something about it! Blitz is also a spoiler.
And handicap system??? that one that is in the book, are done over lunch i thing.....why invest energy in new team when there are so much other things there need doing? its fo the money i think new rosters=new mini= more money!!!

No radical changes? you don't remember the enormous overhaul they gave the game in the first meeting then?
LRB is a very good set of rules. Sure we all have tweaks we'd like to see - and I can understand your frustration at the kick off table - but more major changes to the rules are the last thing we need.

The fact that the BBRC is conservative should spare us from quite a few nasty surprises. To me, the LRB as it stands should not radically change in the way that the other GW games change over editions. It's a very solid and good set of rules. Some fine-tuning is always needed, naturally.

I also like the rules as they are BUT
BUT its not the rule mechanism i don't like, actualy i think BB got one of the best rule set ever seen on a boardgame.
That i don't like is all the "Non-rule STUFF", like the Kick off table. sure they can make it bigger, that all i ask!.
and the handicap system.....the old one with cards are still the best.
One more thing! i think that the Ogre is all to covering, he is surely MUCH better then the troll, either he get more balanced with the troll or get the troll better, generaly i don't see why you should take an troll.
And then make the Big guys more specific in what team they can join.
Humans=ogre Orcs=Troll and so on why should a Chaos or orc team choose a troll?

We discussed just this - a lot - a few days ago. the threads should still be near the top of this forum.

NOOOOOO
I never thought I'd say this, but...
No extra positional players for Dwarfs!!!
I am almost done painting a 52 mini Dwarf team plus support crew; only 9 minis to finish, and if I ever have to paint red, blue and gold Dwarfs again, I'll cry.
That said, I think the best positional to add would be slayers; these are the ones that are most likely to solve Dwarfs' issues with blockers and Big Guys and they don't add Agility to the Dwarf team, keeping their main disadvantages intact (no extra ball handlers).
(They also have less clothing and metal to paint...)

Well, as a dwarf coach I certainly wouldn't object, but I have my doubts whether those would be a bit too good....

Just remember, if u got those, no way would u have the ogre available. So they better make those dauntless rolls against big guys, and the st 4 would not help much.
