Orc in tournament

Post by skwpp »

Heya, im goin to be attending the official swedish bloodbowl championship in Linköping next week and would like some feedback on the team im fielding.

The rules for the tournament is:

1,100 000 gp start
All players heal between games
No starplayers or magicians
4 skills to divide in team... one may be a trait
1 extra skill to give out for every new game
No player may be given more than one extra skill

This is the roster ive been thinking about fielding

4 Black orcs
4 Blitzers (3 with guard, 1 with nerves of steel)
1 thrower
2 goblins
5 RR
1 FF

Now a couple of alternatives is either exchanging a goblin and a reroll for a troll or 2 linemen (dont think ill field the troll, jut not realiable enough). I could then exchange nerves of steel with leader).

Also the skills i will be giving out once the tournament starts is block for black orcs and then accurate for thrower.

Any ideas or suggestions?

I would think about getting a twelth player. These gobbos do break easily. With the 4 BOBs, 4 Blitzers, you should have firepower enough to be able to live without the Troll. Instead of the 3 guards, I'd think about at least one mighty blow. That way your S4s would be a bit more effective. For a long tournament (or I guess a league), block is the first skill a usually would give to a BOB (unless he roles a double 6, as happened in the last game), in this tournament, I guess the question is how bashy do you want to play. As they will heal between games, you might opt for a more brutal line up and try to decimate your opponent before scoring. So that would be mighty blow and potentially a dirty player.

Kill em all !

How about the ogre? With Leader (you can pick it as a trait...) you have a RR for him and if you give him block too he won't cause you too much problems.
Having the TTM opportunity is nice, it allows you quick TD with some luck, sometimes you're that desperate or just don't have enough turns...

Goblins and linemen are all that you need!

4 BO
4 Bl (1 leader, 1 tacle, 1 guard)
1 T
2 Gob
1 Og (block)

3RR
1FF

then block on 2 BO
another tacle on BL
probably accurate on T

Those rules I'd take the same lineup as joker - but different skills.

1 Ogre - Piling On
4 BOBs - 1 Leader, 1 Piling On
4 Blitzers - 1 Tackle
1 Thrower
2 Goblins
1 FF
3 TRR

Then give the remaining BOBs PO and and Strip Ball/Tackle for the Blitzers.

Generally grind out results using your immense bashing power and long drives (7/8 turns).

Well you could give one of the Blitzers dirty player then you are quite happy to enter a fouling war.

TTM is a high risk play that I'd only use if far behind or at the end of half. Its not how I'd intend to score any TDs, but just to have the option.

If you really don't want to risk the Ogre at all then take Block instead, but PO will generate a lot of casualties.

my favourite line-up:
4 blitzers (guard)
3 BO (piling on)
1 T (accurate, or block)
1 goblin
2 lineman
1 ogre (block)

RR:3
FF:3

Just as a general pointer - you probably want to give the starting skills to your black orcs rather than your blitzers, they advance so much slower than your blitzers who'll be doing the scoring AND can hit. Block is the obvious first choice but some S4 guards is WELL worth it. It makes it a lot harder for your opponent to spot and then punch out the guard on the line.

So the BO will NOT advance slower (or faster) than the Blitzers.

This is also the reason why I dont belive in Big Guys in theis tournament. You just cant get the skills for it to compensate for the nega-traits. The skills will just get wasted.

But I guess I can be wrong in my analysis. And soon I will see the results, live! CANT WAIT! (LinCon, event of the year)
((OK; Reloaded might be the event of the year?))
