Well, I was half right. That sounds correct, but I still can't remember where I read that.

If someone wants to pay my flight and lodgings I'll come over, Sars or no Sars

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Anthony,

Hot off the yahoo press:

TORONTO - Hospital workers in Toronto once again strapped on stuffy masks and gowns Saturday to confront a new SARS (news - web sites) threat that an official warned could involve 40 people or more, weeks after Canada proclaimed itself free of the deadly virus.

40 cases might be blowing things out of proportion? How many of those need to die for it to be put in proportion? This is serious stuff. Don't really think we should chastise people for taking this into consideration when making travel plans.

Just my opinion.

Well, first of all, those 40 cases haven't yet happened. Second, even if 40 people were indeed reported this week, few if any would die. Third, even if they all did, out of the 5 or 6 million people (what's the exact figure?) who live in the Toronto area, 40 people is not a lot.

You'd have a much higher chance of dying taking a trip to New York than you would in Toronto, yet people still go to New York.

Don't believe everything you read, that article is badly worded and innaccurate.

Toronto is as safe as it's ever been.

That's kind of a nice way to divide and it. And I'm surprised that they had enough sense to make the American Chaos Cup in the middle of the Nation (sort of). They did something right...heh go figure!
Too bad the Aussies are all but left out. But I guess if they did a tourney in Australia the only coaches there would be Aussies. (I know I can't afford a trip to the other side of the world!)

Where in Cananananananda is the Spike! being held? Toronto?
God, not in Quebec... :puke:

Yup it will be in Toronto, there are details on the Canadian GW site. The TBBF is gearing up for it! Can't wait myself... agonizing over what team to bring already ;)

Am I to assume that the BB tourney in TO during the Gamenday/GoldenDemon event is going to be the Spike tourney?

Ye. The Chaos Cup, the Dungeonbowl, and the Spike! will be played in their respective Games Day (Toronto for the Spike!, chicago for the Chaos Cup, and no clue for the dungeonbowl)

Does anyone know the date? Never been to Canada, if the timing is right, it could be a good excuse to head that way. As far as SARS and the Media, they always blow it out of proportion, b/c it sells. Last year the West Nile Virus was going to doom us all. Next year, it will be something else. I don't think it would stop me from going to Toronto, I can't live my life in complete paranoia and fear (well, except when there's a big Ogre coming for me on the pitch and he looks annoyed  ).

According to the GW Canada website, Gamesday will be held on Aug 16 and supposedly there is a BB tourney going on but that remains to be seen.

Now August 16 is probably doable, unless I land a job somewhere and they want me to start right away. It's after my bar exam, and I bet a round trip ticket for the weekend and a decent hotel room wouldn't be prohibitive. May have to try for that one. It'd be a blast, and I've just done up my 2ed Skaven (The Crookback Mountain Wanderers) and and Undead (Amityville Horrors), so it'll be a toss up as to who would come. After 2 months of cramming for that test, I'll be in the mood for beer, beer, blood bowl, Candian Cuisine, beer, blood bowl...etc. 8)

What's the matter Dark Lord? Can't hold your poutine :P Don't forget that the one and only DEATH BOWL will be held in the Montreal area in October of this year.

On SARS: If anyone has decided they're not going to Torornto because of SARS then you had best not go to any major city in the world. SARS has spread to every major airport in the world and from there into the population. The real reason people wouldn't go to the Spike is because they know that Kevin Hutson of the TBBF is as yet unbeaten in Tournament play. But then he has yet to face me :)

Now about the Spike and Games Day Toronto. Is there any confirmation that the Games Day tournament is indeed the Canadian Spike? I havn't been able to get any. As far as I can tell it's just a regular one day tournament. If anyone has any solid news about this please let us all know.
