How about off the footy theme and go for the Barbarians (Rugby Union). The team play in black and white hoops with black shorts and the colours of their country for socks.

Given this is an international event, seems appropriate to me.

You should know this, didn't you turn up at Spiky in a Wednesday shirt?

What!! :o How dare you. That was a classic mid-90's replica "way to get money from gulible fans" Man Utd shirt.

I reckon that's a cool idea DDave, if we can find a way that each of us can add a little personal icon or something it would really add to the soul of the team.

I was just thinking that maybe a rugby team's strip might be more appropriate. Anyone know any good looking rugby strip?? Before BigD posts he wants the All-Blacks, that one should be counted out even though it would be easy to do, it would be kinda boring to look at (and the last team had black as it's main colour).

This will give you an idea of the strip.

For Newton Heath colours:

The pictures in B&W (hey, it's the late 1890's), but it'll give an idea of the strip. The colours were yellow and green.

As long as it's red and white?
I've always rather liked Ajax' strip myself.
We'd never have guessed.
D'oh...missed the connection completely there. I just always thought it was kinda cool. PSV look good too ut that's taken.
You'll be pleased to hear my new dwarf team are Black and Gold.

Colour scheme? PHOENIX COYOTES!

I like the Barbarian idea. Though I HATE painting with black, I like the international flavour of it and the option to have your own little bit of individuality.

Bugger the All-Blacks, go Canterbury, they make up the majority of them anyway.
