Perfect the art of distraction.

Which miraculously lets you dodge into three tackle zones pick up the ball and get of an accurate long bomb, before your opponent pries his eyes away form the Mini skirted lass, doing her shoe laces up

... be able to drink 10 to 12 beers and still figure out what that 44 minis on the pitch are there for.

ambidexterity is also very important

pushing innocently some of your opponents minis off the table with your left hand while moving some of your own minis with your right one ...

I like the: Are-you-really-sure-approach a lot. There is quite some potential there. Pair this with an occasional laughter, some head shaking, add "uh, that makes it easy" once in a while and give an Al Gore impression (during the first debate, for those of you that are politically interested).

Oh, and a good one too, when playing with Newbies, the: Uh-i-forgot-to-mention-that-rule approach. (I've seen this work through the newbies point of view). If you are convincing enough, you don't even have to be right :-) -> No, you can't score with a linemen in turn 5 on a Wednesday night, unless it is your birthday (you might want to do it less obvious, then leave a little through the rulebook and then claim it is mentioned somewhere, but you can't find it right now).

:D The last one went against me :D

I call Toby to my defence!

He'll state that the rules are hard to remember because they are not logical and the handbook is pourly written and and assembled in random order!

Who knows where to find "Argue the call" if it's mentioned at all in the fouling chapter! :-?

You think? :o

Just kidding, I had to go for that one though. We had tons of fun trying to learn the game, and there were some casualties on the way. 8)

that's why I tried to start more seriously a discussion how to get people into the game, that are not :
- already tabletop fanatics
- have a normal intelligence level and
- a relatively normal = short attention span when it comes to understanding a ton of rules.

But the rule confussion might work in your favour ...

Actually a serious one from me.

I noticed that my win/loss record improved when I started thinking about how to win with 6-8 players instead of 11.
When I was out numbered I could still put up a fight!

Learn how to avoid losses. In the end the same tactics will buy you more wins.

OOOHHHHHHH! I KNOW THIS!

The correct answer is......

SHAVE YOUR TEAM RATING LIKE AN FOTHERMUCKER!

Drop assistant coaches; drop newbie and niggled players; spend every dime you earn; know the rules that only help your team; cheat; cheat; cheat!

I have learned well!
