Not much respect for the American beers in France, I guess. The first time I went to France, a bar in Tours advertised Budweiser as "Yankee Piss." It didn't stop all of the Frenchies from drinking it.

Last time I was there (last August), I had some stuff that knocked me silly. It was called something or other "Grand Cru," but I forget the first name of it. Started with a K? Not French, I don't think. Anyhow, it was nice and high in alcohol content, and we got kershnickered at the hostel bar. A great time, but I had to stay in bed until about 3pm the next day.

And hey, Kronenbourg isn't that bad. I kinda like that.

But most importantly, let's all remember that not all American beer is crappy. I'll go as far as this: if any of you Europeans are ever in Michigan, let me know. I'll take you out and show you the vast diversity that is the American beer scene, microbrews and all, and we'll see what's what. Hell, just here in Michigan we kick all kinds of ass from Lagers to Stouts. Try me.

Damn, wish I'd thought of that! No, no such beer exists as that I know. Zergo is right, though. A lot of minor, small breweries here make some good stuff, not watered down crap. I will drink our Microbrews. I won't touch the more well known beers that get exported. :puke:

Aha, DS, that's just it. Here in the States, "cider" refers to a delicious, apple-icious NON-ALCOHOLIC beverage. Apple cider is the greatest beverage in existence outside of beer, of course.

What you folks across the pond call "cider" is know as "hard cider" over here. Moreover, it is well known as the thoroughly womanish drink that it truly is.

Can't handle the bitterness of beer? Just drink hard cider. It's sweet and sticky and not all harsh and mean like naughty old beer. You might as well drink a wine cooler.

You know that the more i read it, the more i like the title of this thread!

Snot, you're late of several posts about that.

Everybody drinks what he likes. :) I must say that sometimes, i like to have a tasteless beer when chilling out in the sun. No headache, no hangover. But it's possible to get some french beer in the US. I remember going to a bar 1 day with some english friends. The evening went so well that when we left, they had no more french beer!

Aha. You know not of what you speak. 'Sweet and not all harsh and mean'? :o You must get our equivalent of Woodpecker, which is indeed sweet and drunk by girlies.
The best selling mass produced stuff over here is dry and runs around 6%. I drink quite a lot of it.
Go down West and you can get the real stuff, flat, cloudy, sour, upwards of 8% by volume, will strip the enamel from your teeth and the lining from your guts. Wine cooler?

The only hard cider I've had was woodchuck. It'd do the trick, but it's a sweet and well, associated with women. What is this cider that strips paint? I'd like to try some of that!

We've got some really good microbrews, but, by and large, the mass manufactured, big-label beer in this country sucks. The micros are doing us all a great service. :smoking:

Ah, Woodchuck's good stuff. I used to live in Vermont, and there was once a pony keg of Woodchuck at a party I attended. It was gone pretty fast...

You've read about scrumple (sp?) in Terry Pratchett's books? Where do you think he got the idea from? Mind you, he toned down it's effects somewhat

Better add the West Country to you itenery, Law
