7 movement on their Blitzers and Catchers would be a nice start, but I'm not convinced they need to be punched up. I'm just bad at playing them...

I'm about to start a norse team... I am not overly optimistic. However Aspenfjord Avalanche did come third in one of our seasons with 10 wins and one loss.....

But out of all the 'serious' BB teams, they have to be the worst, and not by just a little bit!

Just give them 50k TRR. It would make small difference.

The Norse are a very tricky team to play with. The Blitzers are over-valued, and more than 2 on a rookie team is a real hindrance. The best player you get? The Lineman! At 50k he is a bargain. After that your catcher is next best, as after one skill choice he is guaranteed dodge, if not a double.

Movement is a problem, but only offensively. Defensively having your whole team mv. 6 with block is good, as it means any player can operate in the sweeper role. Against faster teams, just deploy a deeper defence.

Avoid following up, unless you knock the player over. You cannot afford to get in a blocking war, as casualties can mount up easily with one or two unlucky rolls.

A big guy is very useful to the team, as he provides some solidity. Personally I go for the Minotaur, as once he has block he is pretty fearsome. Getting him block is a pain though, as you need to use him to get it, and then you have the risk of the turnover (3 times in the first half in my first league game!).

The team can afford to have both a big guy and an apoth from game one if you get lots of linemen. Well worth it, as you can then save money more effectively and still win games from day one. Far better than spending lots of money at the start on Blitzers, who take time to develop well unless you get lucky.

The best use of your blitzers with your current set up is try and push players off the pitch, with multiple frenzy blocks.

The Norse team does need some help. As a minimum I would like to see the rerolls set to 50k. In addition changes to the positional players would be good. Thick Skull on Blitzers (same cost) and +1 MA for catchers (+10k) would be my choice.

Cheers

Richard

Norse are fun, but a bit weak...'Zons are just as good to start, but every player with 6 SPPs can be a blodger...Sick! Stay away from Blitzers early on. I took 2 only to get the SPPs started quick, and piling on is a great choice. I prefer the Ogre since you can use him to anchor the line, whereas the Mino is best used as a Safety behind the lines (but with Norse blitzers being made for this why bother?). I think they start well due to the great linemen, but the low AV, Mv, and nothing to get them out of a tight spot (Dodge, good Mv, or Ag 4) means when the hurting starts you are stuck.

ugh, Two more games and two more losses with the norse. The first against and Ork team TR 126 (to my 109), which had me with an average of seven players or less on the pitch at all times. Second against the Dwarfs, also about 126 TR to my 113. The dwarf game could have gone either way and was almost a tie, but that was mostly his bad luck on the armour rolls.

The only hope I see for the norse in scoring is pulling the same tactics as an elven or human 'flood' play, that is, get a hole and run 2-3 players down field scattered, then pass to a guy on the line, he blitzes into a down field pocket or hands off to a scorer who runs it in.

Other than that, the Norse running game, compared even to the skaven or dark elves, is quite weak.

Also, advances. Lineman advances, since they're the true core of the Norse team, are relegated to Tackle, Dirty player and sure hands, none of which help with scoring to a great degree.

Norse Blitzers look good on paper, but I'm thinking they're highly overrated... especially with some moves to Nerf Piling On into just a reroll of the AV roll.

Well ive had my second league game against a W Elf team. And for the second game in a row i have won 3-1, i also managed to take out 3 elfs (including the death of a war-dancer after he blocked my blitzer and fell to the floor dead :o ).

My progress so far in 2 games is as follows....

Played - 2
Won - 2
TD for - 6
TD against - 2
CAS for - 5 (2 dead)
+ 1 FF
3 players gain new skills
