2 Lion warriors 180,000
2 dragon warriors 200,000
2 phoenix warriors 160,000
5 linemen 350,000

2 rerolls 100,000
1 ff 10,000


Roster #2

2 Lion warriors 180,000
9 Linemen 630,000

2 rerolls 100,000
9 ff 90,000

This is for a long term league, in which this team can easily expect to play 30+ games.

Should be the one with ff9 ... never start wiht ff1 (even if you can 'ride' other teams ff - it just won't pay) ...

I voted for 2 - even though I don't like either :D - Would rather have at least ONE Phoenix Warrior....

I would also probably start with an apothecary....

Anyway - I went for 2 because FF1 is CRIPPLING! :D

If these are the only options I'd go for #2 easily. You need fanfactor to build a team ... you cannot get anywhere with just 1 FF. However, I might go for something in between ... as in cutting down a bit on the FF and taking a Dragon Warrior rather than a lineman.

Although I'd consider dropping a DW for another linelf and bumping the FF to 9 nowdays.

I started my last HE team with
9 linemen
2 Dragon warriors
7 FF
2 RR

Basically the same start up I used for my dark elves...
Maybe it was 1FF less and a thrower but I doubt...

:o That was my starting team :D

I always want to start with an apothecary - or buy one after the FIRST game - I tell you I will be taking one to a tournament - they can win you games! :D

FF is quite important now...

I think that I'd rather have the -1 FF and have a thrower on a HE team as posted previously. The -2 FF it would take for a Dark Elf team is a bit too much for me, and I'd agree on the 2 Blitzer/9 Linemen roster for a starting DE team.

Given those choices, I'd choose #2. I like Deathwing's line up. I started my current league with that exact roster. It has worked well for me. So far I have purchased an apothecary and 2 lion warriors.

I just started with DWs and to be honest I think it can work but his alternative (1 DW, 1 PW, 9 LE, 2 TRR, 9FF) or Berserker's (2 DW, 9 LE, 2 TRR, 7 FF) are better.

Yeah, in retrospect I'd go with the FF9 option, especially with the 'rule of 1' and revised winnings table since LRB. My MBBL Helfs are now 14 games old (7-7) and FF is still 6 (I took some early fatalities, been unlucky with my FF rolls) and it's really biting now, both in terms of crowds/winnings and the KO table.

Different team I know, but I started by PBeMBBL DE as:

1 Blitzer
10 Linemen
2 RR
9 FF
and 10k tresurery

and I'd start a HE team the same way.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.
