How about IP only lasting for D3 turns, and Throw Rock only taking out 1 player?

Also i dont see the problem with block? Every1 (almost) can get block as their 1st skill. And it is great for making elves go squish!!!!!!!!
Not quite true - the block skill make elves more stable on the field as the Boldge combo is very easy to access for them

True, but when playing in a tournament or against a rookie team Block can make all the difference. Even more so as i play Norse. It's just a pitty that i doesnt work against Dwarf's, the pesky fat little gits  [/quote]

Dwarfs are the Best!!!

Anyways; I always take Block on my runners at tournaments; at the last one I attended (the French Open) I took block on both runners first, then Guard on a Blitzer, MB on a Slayer and Guard again

Block on my runners won me my 3rd match, against an identical Dwarf team who had taken Guard for both Blitzers instead!!!

(Just a long example of why Block is the best Skill)

Taking away block access from most teams will surely improve teams with Block access a lot, and though I like those kind of teams, I don't think it's good for the game!

PICTURE THIS:

Coach Vincent T. Lungbasher of the Ork Bay Packers, "Listen to me, you maggots! There is a new rule instituted by the elf-lovers at the NBBL. We must enter the field backwards, because niether team is allowed to see the other team set up for the opening kick-off. All right, Brat Starr, get them lined up."

Brat Starr, "Doh! Okay coach, we are ready."

Coach Lungbasher, "Let's go kill some arse!"

<Lungbasher throws open the door. >

Team screaming.......now cursing as they trip over each!

Coach Lungbasher: "Mr. Commissionioner, I am sorry to say that my team injuried itself coming out of the locker room. I have no one who can take the field this afternoon. What's that? The other team just called you five minutes earlier and said the same thing!"

I think third edition with deathzone was just about perfect. A few skill changes as coaches got 'beardy-er', maybe some roster tweeking, IGMEOY and sigourd's injury rule and that's it.

What didn't happen is that after the second release of BB, no new teams came out that: 1) added new skills 2) added a new style of game play. In WFB and 40k every new race has a lot of new stuff and prompts changes in over all design. The BB 3rd edition rules paradigm was never officially pushed and pushed until it broke. So it hasn't. With the online interest and PBEM play I think people are going to be able to play a hundred times the number of games that are possible physically, so we're going to see where the bear shits with every rule change the yearly coaches consortium makes very quickly.

I'm comfortable with the kick off table. I'm pretty comfortable with the rosters (I'm disappointed that the norse are the lowest of the 'serious' teams) but I think there should be more official teams, more skills and basically a fill up of the current rules paradigm to make it as much Blood Bowl as possible.

There is also two camps of players: Those that love the randomness of the game and the crazy cards, spells, mutations, poisoned barley water, etc, and the players that are more interested in a 'controllable' blood bowl more like WFB and 40k where luck and the 'any given sunday' factor give way to straight tactics. I think the future of the game will be determined by whichever group is more prevalent.

I like that games can be ruined by weather, riots, pich invasions and rocks or tire chains being thrown at your best player, balls being stolen by dogs, coaches killed by assasins, all that is Blood bowl to me, the tactics employed with moving your players on the pitch is in the midst of this chaos.

I like a balence of the two which the rules happily reside at now.

You get the any given sunday stuff but on the whole better coaches win, just like it should be.
