The movie was made by the danish director Bille August, the original title is Pelle Erobreren (would be Pelle Erövraren if it was swedish) and takes place in denmark.
How is even close to possible that I understood a bunch of it. 13th warrior also was in danish right?, but I didn't understand any of it!

Again, it's coaching style and personal preference. Whenever I play my Dwarf team I embrace the fact that I only have MV 4 and AG 2 and don't go for any agility skills (except the occasional Dodge on Runners). It's just how I like to play.

I definitely agree that having Blitzers would make my team more versatile and a better team. It doesn't mean that I like using them, though. :)

Also, just for the record, I didn't vote Dwarven Blitzers as the most useless. :)

Best,

No, he isn't, because elves aren't real blood bowl players. They're carpets! They're there to walk over them, and stomp their faces 'till they become a bleeding puzzle!

I don't think there are any worthless players in BB (at least official ones). Any player that can learn a skill, even with crap stats will have a place.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Perhaps the question should have been phrased as "the least useful" player?

No, actually, I most certainly don't. ALL of my line elves who roll doubles get guard, if I happen to have a bunch with guard, or the same guy gets 2 doubles rolls, you'll see one with Dauntless. I also never give line elves sure hands. That's what throwers are for, the rest of the time I count on the 2 to be good enough. No nerves of steel either, I don't play the long passing game to line elves so it's not useful to them, see also comment about all doubles rolls. :)
littlemute wrote:Also, unlike Human, Amazon, Norse and ork throwers, DE throwers by virtue of their price and skill selection won't have block and can't fill the role of a 'skilled lineman' when needed, they tend to be more useless than other races throwers for multi-tasking.
Not true at all. Their STATS make them useful for multi-tasking, and I actually do give them block sometimes...actually more often than I would, say, a human thrower because he doesn't need accurate or strong arm. PLus DE throwers don't need doubles to get dodge, meaning they can survive a block or two that way (not to mention being used to actually dodge). To me that's very good multi-tasking. And the extra 10k you pay for them over the high elf thrower is pretty much meaningless since you don't start the team with them.

It's very clear that we play dark elves very very differently. Throwers fit very well into my developed teams, they don't seem to for you. Whatever works man...I know my way works just fine for me. :)

My list:

Witch Elves
Slayers
Orc linemen
Norse Blitzers (not useless, but not good enough to justify their expense)

DE throwers are great, Dwarf Blitzers are great (good luck after I knock your runners out of the game w/o blitzers), and skellies are only 1 ma below average...thats important.

Slayers? Are you insane? :o They are one of the MOST useful players in the game, IMHO. Frenzy, Multiblock, block and dauntless, on one skill roll. Plus mighty blow, that's just scary!

That drew a chuckle :D

I didn't vote because I feel that all of those players have their respective usefulness. Granted, they aren't the BEST players for their teams, but each fills a needed niche.

I feel most of these, or any other for that matter, players have their uses. Kick / Leader etc. The usefullness of any player depends on the way you use him / her / it.

I am very much in the "Pro Dwarf Blitzer" camp. I love my blitzers. They don't break as often as runners, they're more agile and faster than longbeards.

Personally I reckon Norse and I are pretty much equal in ability. We've only played once (blitzerless dwarfs against blitzered dwarfs - he won narrowly on a last minute wonder play). This just goes to show one thing: a roster that works for one will not necessarily work for another.

I'd go nuts with a roster of Longbeards and runners...but Norse is ceratainly not the only one I've heard of who's been successful with it. On the other hand, I've been to three tournaments now, and have only been beaten three times in 17 games (though there have also been 6 draws). My Dwarf team on fummbl has only played four games, but only one has been a loss. I must be doing SOMETHING right. So who's right and who's wrong? NOONE.

That little example can probably be applied in variant forms to every player on that poll list. Therefore I'm not going to vote either (though I would lean towards the Orc lineman, simply because I've heard of so many teams who simply never use them.)

I wish people who post polls like these would put in a "none" option.
